Through a one-two punch of a discount and a trade-in program RadioShack has dropped the price of the iPhone 4 to unprecedented levels.

If you’re interested in acquiring an iPhone 4 — and so far have managed to resist buying one — then RadioShack’s current sale should be just the thing to win you over. From now until December 11, RadioShack is offering the iPhone 4 for $50 cheaper than its standard price for new AT&T customers and for current customers who are eligible for an upgrade. That means $150 for the 16GB model and $250 for the 32GB model.  The $50 discount also applies to other iPhone models offered by RadioShack, including the 3GS.

Even more incredibly, RadioShack is offering bigger iPhone 4 discounts through its trade and save program. Customers who bring in a functioning iPhone 3G with an intact screen will get receive a $75 credit; customers who swap a 3GS can take off $125.

The trade-in prices come in addition to the original $50 discount, meaning that customers who trade in a 3GS (a $125 credit) will be able to buy a 16GB iPhone 4 for an astounding price of $25 (yes, $25) or a 32GB model for $125. The 16GB and 32GB iPhone 4 models normally sell for $199.99 and $299.99, respectively, with new AT&T two-year contacts.

The sale is an effort to raise awareness of RadioShack’s sometimes overlooked wireless business by attracting holiday shoppers who might want to spoil themselves with a new iPhone 4.

If this sounds like the perfect excuse to finally cave and get an iPhone 4, you’ll have to leave the house to do it: the deal is only offered through RadioShack’s brick and mortar stores — not online. RadioShack is offering a way for potential customers to check their upgrade eligibility through its website.

Again, we should emphasize that sale prices only apply to new AT&T customers or to those with an AT&T contract who are eligible for an upgrade.

  1. Jack at 7:35am 31st December 2010 And all this, if you can find one. I've been #3 on "the list" for over three weeks and they keep telling my they are sold out, but shipments will be coming soon. Has anyone actually done this? I'm starting to think it's just a ploy to get people to come into the store.
  2. steve at 12:53am 10th December 2010 wow what a rip off!!! why would they take your iphone for 125? umm maybe cuz they make profit off it. radio shack is such a misleading company. they push their employees to be dishonest and give them quotas on their overpriced products like cell phone accessories or theyll be fired if they dont reach them...
  3. KTNY at 12:23pm 9th December 2010 Scorpio, if you have a unlimited plan AT&T will not change it unless you want the change. I upgraded 3 of my lines to an iPhone4 and we were all able to keep the unlimited plan.
  4. Scorpio21 at 6:44am 7th December 2010 One other thing to consider for those eligible for an upgrade. Your current plan may include unlimited data. When upgrading and signing a new two year contract, your plan will be changed to a 2 GB data limit for the same price. All data over the 2 GB limit will result in additional charges to your wireless account similar to going over your prepaid minutes. See AT&T site for more details about overage charges.
  5. PRJ_1966 at 3:30pm 6th December 2010 You can upgrade, if eligible through AT&T, by trading in your current 3Gs iPhone for a new iPhone 4 for only $25 (after all the discounts)! But, they also add tax. Not the sales tax of the $25 discounted iPhone, but the sales tax of the iPhone's retail price, which is $599. That's $58.40 (9.75% in my area). So the bottom line is that, if you're eligible, you can get the 16GB iPhone 4, by trading in your 3Gs (in good condition), with a new two-year contract, for about $83. Still a pretty good deal. Just wish some of these news reports would mention this tax of the retail price they're including. It's good to know the WHOLE truth on so-called "good deals".
