A week after Apple boss Tim Cook stood on a stage in San Francisco to unveil the iPhone 5, along comes the latest in a series of Samsung ads poking fun at Apple devotees.
The ad follows a familiar routine – hordes of young people lining up outside a number of Apple-looking stores in various US cities, just as Apple fans are doing right now as they wait for the launch of the iPhone 5 on Friday.
“All I’m saying is they should have a priority line for people who’ve waited five times,” one guy says at the start of the 90-second ad.
While the iPhone is never referred to by name, many of its specs are mentioned. “You have to have an adapter to use the dock on the new one,” one guy in the line says rather forlornly. “Yeah, but they make the coolest adapters,” says another.
As with Samsung’s previous ads, owners of the company’s newest smartphone also make an appearance, causing confusion and curiosity among those waiting in line. In the latest ad, owners of Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S3 smartphone talk up their device, listing a good number of its features along the way.
The Korean electronics maker clearly believes the ads are effective in denting consumer enthusiasm for Apple’s iPhone, a view that research appeared to back up with regards to the launch of the iPhone 4S last year.
However, Samsung’s latest ad has some work to do if it’s to have any hope of killing the buzz surrounding the iPhone 5 – Apple said on its website on Monday that it took over two million orders for its new handset in the first 24 hours of availability, making it the fastest-selling iPhone ever.
You can check out Samsung’s new ad below.

They did have some pretty hilarious points in the video but I don’t buy into the hype at all. Sure they are “ahead” of apple in terms of tech and features but in terms of actual functionality and the whole eco-system, Apple is far above and beyond any other company.
It’s not just about the latest and greatest, it’s about what really works
Apple has a long way to go to catch up with Android. First you can’t replace the battery, no SD card slot, you can’t close a app when I it stops working, Apple doesn’t have Swype. Etc…
My girlfriend has a 4S and I have a Samsung rugby smart and she is jealous of my phone…
people who buys the iPhone5 over GS3 are just fanboys.. nothing else. I mean cmon… it beats iPhone in every aspect.. but before buying it, do you really need it? or just for showing off? gotcha there eh?
I’ve been shareing this vdo with co-workers all day.. its fn LOL ..LMFAO all day long!!! classic..
pfft, Korea has never invented anything. Samsung is just a compilation of all inventions and ideas they have copiad from Japan and the US. They never have and never will be creators of anything.
Best commercial ever.
LOL! Nah… Pepsi vs Coke is totally different than iPhone vs. SIII.. Pepsi and Coke do the same thing. The SIII is WAY ahead of the times vs. the iPhone. That’s the difference.
Windows phone is Apples only real competition and the market will reflect that in about 1 year. Android is toast.
Why is Android toast? Too fragmented?
The fact that you identified the main reason they are toast without needing to post the reason myself, well that should be proof that they are on the way out. Among many other reasons, of course.
That’s what I thought. I thought they were way too fragmented from the get-go and there are too many inconsistencies with the apps, quality of the eco-system etc.
It’s an odd and uncertain objective for a national ad, but if it makes them feel better, fine.
It’s the OLD Pepsi vs. Coke routine… Samsung cannot even come up with a creative marketing strategy…well, it might work if they want just enough impact and awareness to kill nokia and blackberry for good and become the “forever” second best.

Yep… And all that galaxy stuff in plastic too!

Lame ass ad Samsung. At least we know you didn’t steal that from Apple.
Enjoy your tent and your dated technology

samsung’s work may be shallow.but Apple isnt a saint as well. Can anyone remember their ads vs Windows? i’m a Mac i’m a PC?
These arguments, iPhone vs Galaxy sound like Dems vs Reps. Most have made up their mind with a very small number of undecided in the middle. Once you’ve picked a side it’s difficult to leave the camp you’re in least you be a traitor to the cause. Get real people. Do your homework, ask lots of questions, try out the phones in neutral territory like a carrier store then make up your mind. Either way, you can’t lose. Both are great phones. Don’t even ask me about the candidates for Prez!
This commercial is unlikely to draw any converts from the Apple camp, seeing as how it mocks the customers. All it serves is to make SG3 users feel better about themselves.
Whats shocking is the S3 came out way back in June, a good 2 months before the iphone5 was announced. in technology years that like 3 decades headsup and the iPhone5 is barely scratching the S3 specs, imagine when the S4 comes the iPhone5 won’t even be used in the same sentence!!

Actually, Samsung sells more phones than Apple. Samsung numbers are just spread out over more models. Apple only has 3 production models available at any time. I believe they just killed or are going to kill 3GS production (still gets iOS6), so that now leaves the aging 4, 4S and the new 5, as opposed to the wider variety offered by Samsung in both size and power. Apple still has the advantage regarding OS update speed, but Samsung is improving in this area.
I guess Samsung feels threatened so they resort to childish tactics at the end of the day Samsung makes plastic phones and apple makes glass/aluminum phones
Who cares what the phone is made of it is what it does and how well that does it. If i Have the choice between a Unobtainium phone or a plastic phone and the plastic one is open and offers more features I am going with the plastic one every time. Apple has a crazy Draconian grip on every facet of iOS while Google is open and you can do what ever you like with the phone not to mention offers many features that Apple can not match. The iPhone is a nice phone but it is not the end all be all of technology and if you think aluminum and glass is what makes a great tech device you don’t get it.
I keep hearing about Apple ‘fanboys’ acting like ‘radical religious people’ but I mostly see rabid Android fans just dissing Apple and some other people for making choices different to their own. I don’t own either phone but hmm, do some Android users have a massive chip on their shoulders or what?
I have to agree with you. The first time they rolled out these ads I found them pretty charming and a nice spoof. But this one just comes across as really mean spirited.
I don’t know why some iPhone owners act like radical religious people. It’s just a Phone, nothing is perfect
I had an Android before I had an iPhone. And I never thought of going back ever since. iPhone is far more superior in every way and that’s a fact.
people who buys the iPhone5 over GS3 are just fanboys.. nothing else. I mean cmon… it beats iPhone in every aspect.. but before buying it, do you really need it? or just for showing off? gotcha there eh?
Why would you want to switch to Android? At least with iPhone you don’t need a new phone when the OS is updated. iPhone is still the superior phone.
Just updated my 3 year old iPhone 3GS to iOS 6…. But, my next phone will be a Lumia 920. :)
Not true. Have you tried iOS 6 on an iPhone 3G?
I have gone up 3 versions of android on my phone with no issues, please do your research before making claims. The best part of android is the dev community, sure Android is great as a standalone product but if you root it the possibilities are endless like newer versions of android on older phones. This is something the iOS community will never know because they have been locked down and told what is acceptable on their device. Personally if I own a device I don’t want some blowhard that feels he needs to be the moral compass for the world what I can and can not to with my device.
Why would you want to switch to iPhone? At least with android you don’t need a new phone when your battery dies. Android is still the superior phone.
Either way, the iphone gets all the buzz and everyone tries to kill the buzz, whether it’s better or not.
Poking fun at fans, is a bad move, especially when a bunch of android phone owners are gonna be iPhone owners soon.
