Sansumg Telecommunications and cell phone operator T-Mobile have launched Samsung’s super-thin t509 phone in the U.S market. Measuring just 9.8 mm thick, the t509 nonetheless offers Bluetooth connectivity, a VGA camera with 4x digital zoom, video capture and playback, support for up to 70 MB of user storage, instant messaging, and a 1.9-inch, 220 by 176 pixel display capable of showing 65,000 colors.
“Only available from T-Mobile, the Samsung t509 brilliantly redefineswhat many consumers expect from the ‘candy bar’ form factor,” said JohnClelland, senior vice president, Marketing, T-Mobile USA. “It’s alightweight, ultra- thin, high-style phone with a compelling feature setthat will excite T-Mobile customers and make it the newest must-have deviceon the market.”
The t509 weights just 2.5 ounces and features domestic tri-band (850/1800/1900 MHz) EDGE high-speed connectivity, support for AOL, ICQ, Yahoo, and MSn instant messaging, Video capture, USB and BlueTooth connectivity, plus the standard features you’d expect in a cell phone: calendar, address book, alarm clock, calculator, plus ringtone and wallpaper support. The t509 is priced at $199, but with a qualifying plan costs just $49.99 after discount and mail-in rebate.
