Samsung’s Propel Pro Remembers Everyone Who Has Ever Touched it

Samsung

We’ve made no secret of our disdain for fingerprint-collecting plastics in the past, and have never been shy about pointing it out in the worst offenders, but Samsung’s Propel Pro takes this dirty little trend its peak. This thing just looks gross.

We spied the new Propel – one of the six affordable new QWERTY phones available on AT&T – at Samsung’s booth. And though it has a sort of sophisticated-looking mirror finish from afar, getting close reveals it’s really just a patchwork of greasy prints. Even worse, the finish somehow imbues them with a reflected rainbow tint that makes the effect even more apparent. Woof.

It’s a shame, considering we really liked the original Propel. This one still has the potential to be much more capable, but certainly not prettier.

The iPhone 15 Pro has a killer camera feature you’ll never use
Shooting Apple ProRES Log video on iPhone 15 Pro Max.

Over the past few years, Apple has been leaning more into pushing the pricey “Pro” iPhones as a creative person’s best friend. Some of the marketing claims don’t sound that outlandish. For example, Cinematic Mode really blew my mind, as long as I had stable hands or a gimbal at my disposal.

With the iPhone 15 Pro pair, Apple introduced the ability to capture videos in Log format. Log takes a mathematical approach to video capture and editing. But to draw a rough parallel, Log capture is to video what RAW format is to a photo.

The best charger I’ve ever used has a huge Black Friday discount
Anker 747 charger on a table.

Smartphone chargers are a necessity for all of us, but unless you're a self-proclaimed nerd, they probably aren't something you spend much time thinking about. And I don't blame you! But let's throw that logic out the window for a couple of minutes while I tell you why part of your Black Friday shopping should include one of the best chargers I've ever used.

I'm talking about the Anker 747. It's one of the most powerful chargers Anker sells, which also means it's one of the more expensive ones. The Anker 747 normally retails for $110 — a price I'd happily pay. But during Black Friday 2023, you can pick it up for as little as $80. A $30 savings is nothing to scoff at, especially when the 747 is as good as it is.
