Sony Ericsson Debuts First T-Mobile Handset

The TM506 clamshell phone will be Sony Ericsson's first device for T-Mobile in the United States when it arrives in September.

Sony Ericsson took the first steps in expanding its relatively modest portfolio of U.S. phones on Thursday by partnering with T-Mobile and introducing its first phone for the carrier’s AWS band, the TM506. The clamshell handset will feature 3G speeds, a 2.0-megapixel camera, and a healthy helping of signature Sony Ericsson style.

The TM506 sports a compact folding design with a glossy face, narrow exterior display, and accents of chrome, amber or emerald on its hinges and inside surfaces. Weight of 96 grams with battery makes it a relative lightweight, and it measures just 0.69 inches thick.

Besides its 3G capabilities and camera, the phone gets T-Mobile’s aGPS, TeleNav navigator, and Bluetooth 2.0 with support for A2DP profiles.  It can also handle RSS feeds, Audio Postcards, and all different forms of media, which it stores on a removable Memory Stick Micro card.

The phone will appear through T-Mobile in September, but neither company has yet hinted at a price for the upcoming phone.
