I've handled an N95 ($750 unlocked) that felt like complete garbage, and the heavily subsidized iPhone feels nicer than almost everything on the market. Obviously this is deliberate. Most subsidized phones are cheaply made and outdated (lose their appeal) in a matter of months. Sounds like Sony put some pretty cool tech into this and simply plans to sell fewer at higher margins as a result. The model could be working, Nokia has done this with the N series for years now. The article didn't mention how much on board memory the phone has or wheether it has expendable memory options (SD card or memory stick). I like the built-in memory and the 8MP camera.
