Sprint Brings Paypal to Mobile Phones

Just in time for America's economic collapse, Sprint's new MyMoneyManager lets users access bank accounts and send money using PayPal.
If the collapse and acquisition of firms like Merryl Lynch, IAG, and Washington Mutual have you more concerned than ever about the state of your finances, Sprint may have just rolled out a new tool to aid your obsessions. Sprint’s new MyMoneyManager, available at no additional charge to Sprint data subscribers on most Web-enabled Sprint phones, enables customers with accounts at a number of (apparently still-extant!) financial institutions to access accounts and make payments using their phones. And, in an industry first, the application also supports PayPal, enabling users to send money to virtually anyone with an email address.
“With MyMoneyManager, Sprint customers can take advantage of the ultra-fast speed and usability of the Now Network for on-the-go access to their financial accounts that is secure and easy-to-use,” said Sprint’s VP of wireless and wireline services Len Barlik, in a statement. “MyMoneyManager gives our customers a single mobile application that lets them use their Sprint phones to quickly access multiple financial providers, when, and where they want.”
Customers can use MyMoneyManager to access accounts with CitiBank, Texas’s IBC Bank (servic is available in both English and Spanish), PNC, and BB&T—and that list may grow (or shrink!) at any moment as collapses, acquisitions, mergers, and bailouts continue at a breakneck pace. Users can make payments, check balances, and locate nearby branches and ATMs. The application supports multi-factor authentication and the ability to de-activate the service remotely in the event a phone is lost or stolen. The application is based on mFoundry’s mobile financial platform.
Sprint customers can browse to www.sprint.com/mymoneymanager for download instructions for their bank, then visit their bank’s Web site to register and start the download process.
