You know those ever-so familiar ringtones, such as the classic Nokia tune, and Marimba on the iPhone? Well, prepare to hear them like never before. Police frontman, and all round super cool guy Sting was a guest on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, where he was asked to give his own rendition of those well-known ringtones. It turned out to be even better than you could ever imagine.
You can see the video of Sting performing his “Stingtones” below, but make sure you stick around for the end, because Sting isn’t done. Fallon chooses one audience member who gets a special voicemail greeting recorded for him by Sting. However, it’s not one of those rubbish “This is Sting, leave you number” messages. This one is a whole lot better.
To the tune of “Message in a Bottle,” he gives the lucky guy a voicemail greeting that he’ll probably never delete. It’s also the best thing we’ve heard for a while, and if there is any justice in the world, a copy will show up in a music store for us to buy in the future.
It’s not the first time ringtones have been recreated using slightly unusual methods. Nokia once gave its most popular tunes to Slovakia’s 55-piece Bratislava Symphony Orchestra to create an entirely new composition, and the results were used on several new Lumia handsets, while luxury handset manufacturer Vertu has the London Symphony Orchestra create its masterpieces.
