As long as they are reading, does it matter that the reading is on a mobile or electronic device? I dont see a problem with the medium, if they are still reading.

Seems pretty common to me Andrew. Responsible adult = responsible kids. The adult just doesn’t pass it over and say, “Here, go have fun”. They monitor what they are doing with it, and know when to step in to explain or educate their child about what not to do with these devices. That’s the point of my last post. People should be teaching responsibility with everything instead of avoidance.

Specifically about “The purpose of Common Sense Media’s study is to provide those concerned with promoting healthy child development – such as educators, pediatricians and public health advocates – with reliable information about media use among children.” – As with many things, people need to be given reliable information about how best to use the media and technological efficiency of today properly, instead of leaving children on their own to choose games or TV shows over educational material.

This is a ridiculous study. Of course everyone is spending more time with screen media. Books are accessible online and over other various forms of electronics. Go to a library? Spend the travel time just to get some place to read something you could have accessed right where you are. How does that make any sense? People also have easier access right where they are for exercise and fitness advice. Going to the library or bookstore is becoming a silly waste of time, unless you rationalize the travel time to force you in to doing something you are not disciplined enough to do just for the sake of exercise instead of the destination.

whatever happened to going to the library, tech. is turning the youth of today into fat and lazy humans. If kids want to read a book have them get off their ass ride their bikes or walk to a library…
