Phonescoop.com has picked up from Reuters information that says T-Mobile is at least 2 years away from implementing 3G service in the U.S.
“T-Mobile USA CEO Robert Dotson today announced that its 3G UMTS network is at least 2 years away. Verizon has already begun rolling out its next generation network, while Cingular and Sprint will begin launching theirs next year. Dotson noted that the carrier currently lacks spectrum to launch 3G and that it has dedicated Euro 2 billion (about $2.65 billion) to procuring spectrum once it becomes available. To fill the speed gap, T-Mobile USA will begin rolling out EDGE in selected markets next year.”
