Toshiba Thrive 7-inch

A Toshiba press release claims the company will have the world's thinnest and lightest tablet and laptop at CES, along with a 55-inch TV capable of QFHD 4K resolutions and glasses-free 3D.

The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) begins on Monday and the leaks are pouring in. The latest: a translated Japanese Toshiba press release claims that the company will release a 10.1-inch tablet that is both the “thinnest” and “lightest” in the world. Not impressed? The manufacturer also claims it will have the “world’s thinnest and lightest” 13.3-inch laptop PC. The tablet will be waterproof and feature an OLED screen.

On the TV side of things, Toshiba will bring a 55-inch TV with glasses-free 3D, and a QFHD (3840×2160) resolution, which is also referred to as “4K” pixel resolution. This is a super high pixel count, but you lose half your resolution when using 3D. This TV will be expensive.

This info is from an official press release, but it is translated by Google. The wording seems definitive, but it’s difficult to say what, if anything, may have been lost in the translation. In any case, we’ll find out soon. CES begins on Monday, Jan 9 and our entire staff will be at the show to deliver you the goods.
