Vodaphone launches V801SA by Sanyo

The V801SA by Sanyo is a new 3G handset compatible with Vodafone Global Standard (VGS) for use not only in Japan but abroad as well.

With the launch of the V801SA, Vodafone K.K. will simultaneously offer new Vodafone live! mobile internet services exclusively for VGS.

The V801SA is a dual mode handset that operates on Vodafone K.K.’s 3GPP-based W-CDMA network in Japan (with 97.7% network population coverage at the end of October 2003) and is capable of voice roaming in 81 countries and regions on GSM, the de facto mobile communications standard for 2G. In addition, the V801SA is capable of packet data roaming via GPRS in 26 countries and regions including the USA and China, making it possible for customers to enjoy Vodafone live! contents like Sha-mail picture messaging, Movie Sha-mail video messaging and web browsing in the same way abroad as in Japan.

Furthermore, Vodafone live! for VGS will offer customers 3G-exclusive rich and high-speed content like Chaku-uta(tm) ringsongs, and downloads of high-resolution QVGA-size (320 x 240 pixel) wallpaper and 15 to 30 second video clip files. Contents convenient for overseas travelers will also be available.

In conjunction with the launch of Vodafone live! for VGS, Vodafone K.K. will offer “Vodafone Happy Packet”, a packet data communications discount service that offers savings of up to 80%. With Vodafone Happy Packet, VGS customers will be able to send large-size mails and enjoy high-speed web browsing at even greater value. Vodafone K.K. will also strive to expand network area coverage for greater convenience.

    hi.im from phillipines also.. i had bought v801sa from a friend whose sister is in Japan.. i really had difficulty operating it aside from the fact that i cant use sim cards here in the Philippines, but im planning to have it open line..another problem is while using the phone the backpart occupying the battery starts to heat up, and so the battery good only for 4 hours..so im asking if theres a battery i can bought here in the philippines.. thank you

    tey: it sounds like you are downloading the full messages instead of just the headers. when retrieving mail on a handset, unless you have a lot of memory, it's better to just download the headers, then get the full message on emails you only want to read right then.



    Are you using imap or pop3? I'd start deleting any old emails that arent important on your phone.

    A relative of mine gifted me with a Sanyo V801SA vodafone. I have the same problems with the others from the Philippines. But I think my problems is worse because whenever I insert my Smart prepaid simcard the language reverts back to Nipongo and it seems it can't read the sim card. Any help! Thanks

    hi! i also have a v801sa fone... im using it quite fine until i started deleting my messages... after deleting every message in my mailbox, this "red envelope pop-up" suddenly told me that "can't receive messages, mailbox is full" and i cant receive any messages since then... then i check my memory and 90% of it is in the "received mail" partition... but i dont have any messages in my sms or in my mail... pls help... if you know the solution pls e-mail me "kismytite007@yahoo.com"... thanks in advance...

    it is now possible to use some vodafone units here in the philippines.. all you have to do is openline the unit.. but if you using sanyo v801 only text or sms that we can use gprs and mms is not allow coz no network have the configuration to this unit.. even 3g will not function,,, domo arigato.. izuta777@yahoo.com

Everytime i turned on these phone, it always turns back to niponggo language; another is there is a security code being asked, where i don't know the right code. Also, it can't retrieve NW info.. And lastly, i'm using a SMART prepaid sim card right now, but the SMART MENU screen doesn't appear.

I really appreciate the Features of this unit but I got a problem when I tried to clear mail box coz after the deleting, red envelop appeared right after the process. this Red envelope sign gives me a lot of head ache coz since this icon appeared I could no longer recieve text messages. In the mail box counter, no more message stored but if you check it in the setting 1 confirm memory section then you can see 81% stored in the recieved mail.     to change the language into english just follow this steps:

    1. press the menu shown .theres a message appear that do you want to retrieve info for this handset?

    2. just press number 2 or choose the word "no".

    3. when the menu appear, just press the vodafone symbol.

    4. then press number 2.

    5. when the menu appear, just press the small circle at the center of the big circle or the ok.

    6.just press number 2,or choose english. then the settings of language is done.

    Hi everybody!!

    I have bought V801SA SANYO from Japan to use it in Tajikistan. When ever a sim card is inserted it seys "use correct usim card". Please help me to sort out this problem. Thank you very much in advance!!

    hi, i have a v801sa, i can use it already, got no more problem, but unfortunately when i'm sending a message,my phone shut down.. and when i open it.. it says: INTERNAL DATA REBUILDING.. what shall i do,? can you help me?

    Hi to all. I need some personal advice to all of you right now i owned Japanese Cp . it was SAnyo Vodafone V801sa right now i cant used it as SMS i cant open or send messages. theres something appeared in the screen every-time i opened theres a note it said ( Own Phone no# for usim Card not saved) whats the meaning of that msg. Pls any one i need help..

    for shumackers: v801sa fones does not work good with Globe sim cards. try using Smart sim cards or Sun cell. it will work fine.



    for beverlie: INTERNAL REBUILDING means your fone will restore its system files and maybe recovering internal damages in your fone.it will take only about 10 to 20 minutes to rebuild its system. dont worry that is a good sign and let it finish until you get back to its normal screen display and will operate normally.



    v801sa default security code:9999 or 8888

    I bought a V801SA from Japan.The language is By default in Japanese.If I change the language to English and if the mobile is switched OFF and again switched ON, the language of the mobile again changes to Japanese by itself.Plz tell me how to use English as the default language.And also plz tell me how to use SMS service.
