T-Mobile should get them as well eventually but I haven't seen them on the shelf yet. I got the HTC Pure and the HTC Touch 2 not the Tilt 2 and the Toshiba (which is actually kind of nice). But all were on AT&T (I'm T-Mobile).

Rob, if you are on AT&T and the HTC sent you phones on that network, then you should have gotten one with and one without a keyboard it looks like. Is Windows Mobile 6.5 only available on the AT&T network?

The picture is of the two HTC phones available, the Tilt2 and the HTC Pure. The article refers to two HTC phones recently released, and we showed a picture of those. Nothing more.

I think editing just pulled the wrong picture, funny no one else caught this. I didn't get the Tilt2. The pictures are added after I'm done.

Am I missing something or is the HTC Tilt2 a WinMo 6.5 device with a keyboard? Rob, it's probably not a good idea to complain about something in an article when there's a picture by said article that contradicts the complaint.

Why does it sound like some grumpy old man is writing this article? It is all 'back in my day we just had blackberries with little keyboards'. They were fairly large devices that I had to holster on my hip. Not exactly fashionable for those of us looking to look good. Everyone's got their priorities of course, but look at the young people adopting this technology. There will always be people who just want that phone to be a phone. I think there's still some old black and white screen Nokias floating around that got some great usage. Instead of getting some useful information, I think I just wasted my time reading some guy's 'rant' on the direction of new smartphones. I don't even agree with this rant.

Agreed, I know a lot of people who love the iPhone and only a few who complain about it. But a know a huge number of people who complain about the phone they did get. Boy, if the iPhone was just more secure and had a keyboard, even I'd likely buy one.

Make sure you add carrier coverage and data plan cost to that selection criteria though because, as good as the iPhone is there are a lot of places where AT&T's network is saturated and a phone that won't connect reliably is a doorstop.

Interesting piece, though I'm a huge fan of the iPhone - virtual keyboard is definitely a let-down (no more calls while driving), but variety of apps means it's an excellent all-purpose device. Think we shouldn't discount their capability to extend the functionality of any smartphone, or importance to end-user: Just make sure you research what's available to make sure the particular phone and app store's selection meets you needs.
