Windows Phone Marketplace hits 30k, growing at 2,500 apps per month

Despite losing marketshare to Android, iOS, and BlackBerry, Windows Phone 7 continues to trudge along and developers are sticking with the platform. Since the beginning of July, the number of apps available for Windows Phone has grown by 20 percent, from 25,000 to 30,000. While this number is small compared to the hundreds of thousands of apps on Android and iOS, it’s starting to look significant. As WP7 builds up its armament of important, highly used apps, it should become a more attractive option for users.

Here are some other stats:

989 apps have been added in the last two weeks
75 percent of apps are in english
8 percent of apps are games
47 percent of apps are free
There are 8182 published app developers

Compare these stats to stats released by WindowsPhoneAppList two months ago, and there are already significant differences.
