Xiaomi unveiled its first metal smartphone, the Mi 4, in July of last year, but the firm has still yet to manufacture an all-metal smartphone. That might change next year, with a leaked image showing an all-metal Mi Note 2 in the works.

The original Mi Note was launched at the start of this year, so we expect the Mi Note 2 to launch around the same time. Even with the all-metal design, though, Mobile-Dad claims that Xiaomi will not change the screen size for the Mi Note 2.

Specs-wise, the Mi Note 2 is reportedly set to outperform anything on the market right now. It will sport a 5.7-inch quad-HD (2,560 x 1,440) display, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 processor, 4GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, and 16-megapixel camera.

Rumors claim Qualcomm’s ultrasonic fingerprint technology will be added to the Mi Note 2 as well, letting Xiaomi integrate the sensor into the display. That technology is not available on any device currently, but may also come to the Mi 5. Xiaomi doesn’t currently have a fingerprint sensor on any of its devices, so it will be interesting to see which company partners with it to provide payment services.

There are bound to be a ton of spec reveals and rumors coming out of China on the Mi Note 2 in the coming months, as we head into the holiday season. Xiaomi needs to compete on more than one front this year however, given reports that LeTV is planning a 6GB of RAM monster smartphone. Xiaomi also plans to launch in more than one country this year, with India and Brazil on its shortlist. The company’s vice president of international, Hugo Barra, also said that Xiaomi phones would be available in the United States by 2016, perhaps starting with the Mi Note 2.

Xiaomi’s new Ultra 12 phone could have a huge camera bump
A render showcasing a potential design for Xiaomi's 12 Ultra based off a case leak.

Xiaomi is preparing to launch the Xiaomi 12 series, and a new set of renders from the Dutch site Let's Go Digital may give us an early look at one of next year's Android superphones. The renders are backed up by a case leak of the Xiaomi 12 Ultra, showing off what appears to be a massive camera bump on the rear.

We can see that a camera enclosure covers nearly half of the phone's rear, but that design could be justified based on hardware needs. The Mi 11 Ultra also had a beefy camera layout with a 50-megapixel main lens, a 48MP camera with up to 120x zoom, and another 48MP ultrawide camera. Combined with an earlier report that the company could ship a 200MP main camera, that sets a baseline for what we can expect from Xiaomi's next phone.

Xiaomi’s Poco M4 Pro lands in India as the Redmi Note 11T at cheaper new price
The Redmi Note 11T smartphone in different color options.

Weeks after Xiaomi launched the Poco M4 Pro 5G in European markets, the company has brought the same device to India -- albeit with a major change in branding. In India, Xiaomi has decided to make it part of Redmi’s affordable lineup and market the phone as the Redmi Note 11T. To make matters even more confusing, Xiaomi sells the same phone as the Redmi Note 11 in China. Apart from the significant rebranding exercise, the Redmi Note 11T happens to be quite a bit cheaper than its European sibling.

The Redmi Note 11T is a fairly large phone with a 6.6-inch FHD+, 90Hz IPS-LCD panel, and a 5,000mAh battery. The phone also supports an adaptive refresh rate wherein the device automatically adjusts the screen refresh rate depending on the type of content being displayed. The Redmi Note 11T is also among the few devices in its price range to offer stereo speakers. It's also IP53 rated for dust and water resistance.

Redmi India’s rebranded Note 11T 5G could be its last smartphone of 2021
The Redmi Note 11T 5G in various color options

Xiaomi has been on a phone-launching spree of late, starting with the announcement of the Redmi Note 11 series in China last month. One of the Note 11 series handsets -- the Redmi Note 11 -- soon made it to Europe as the Poco M4 Pro 5G. It looks like the same device will launch in India as the Redmi Note 11T 5G.

Earlier today, Redmi India sent out invites for the launch of a budget smartphone called the Redmi Note 11T 5G. The invite was also posted on Redmi India’s social media handles. The Redmi Note 11T 5G is likely to be positioned as the successor to the Redmi Note 10T 5G, which was launched barely four months ago.
