The original Mi Note was launched at the start of this year, so we expect the Mi Note 2 to launch around the same time. Even with the all-metal design, though, Mobile-Dad claims that Xiaomi will not change the screen size for the Mi Note 2.
Specs-wise, the Mi Note 2 is reportedly set to outperform anything on the market right now. It will sport a 5.7-inch quad-HD (2,560 x 1,440) display, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 processor, 4GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, and 16-megapixel camera.
Rumors claim Qualcomm’s ultrasonic fingerprint technology will be added to the Mi Note 2 as well, letting Xiaomi integrate the sensor into the display. That technology is not available on any device currently, but may also come to the Mi 5. Xiaomi doesn’t currently have a fingerprint sensor on any of its devices, so it will be interesting to see which company partners with it to provide payment services.
There are bound to be a ton of spec reveals and rumors coming out of China on the Mi Note 2 in the coming months, as we head into the holiday season. Xiaomi needs to compete on more than one front this year however, given reports that LeTV is planning a 6GB of RAM monster smartphone. Xiaomi also plans to launch in more than one country this year, with India and Brazil on its shortlist. The company’s vice president of international, Hugo Barra, also said that Xiaomi phones would be available in the United States by 2016, perhaps starting with the Mi Note 2.
