Yahoo Takes Services to Windows Smartphones
Yahoo Go for Mobile - with email, search, calendar, news, and more - is now available for users of smartphones and other devices running Windows Mobile.
Yahoo announced today that its Yahoo Go for Mobile software is available today—for free—for users of devices running Windows Mobile like the Motorola Q and Palm Treo 700w.
“Today’s launch increases the number of consumers who can use Yahoo! Go for Mobile to stay connected to their community of friends, personalized content and favorite Internet services,” said Marco Boerries, Yahoo’s senior vice president for connected life, in a statement “We are making it even easier for more consumers to take the Yahoo! experience with them on their mobile phone.”
Yahoo Go for Mobile supports Windows Mobile 2003 and Windows Mobile 5.0. The application enables users to access Yahoo data services and content, including Yahoo Mail, Yahoo Search, and Yahoo Photos (because, really, transferring enormous images is why you have that wireless data plan, right?). Yahoo Go for Mobiles also provides access to news and data from Yahoo Sports, News, Finance, and Movies sites, plus enables easy management and use of Yahoo Calendar and Contacts for managing names, addresses, and schedules.
“Staying connected to essential information, from business contacts and calendar to personal email or news, is a crucial part of today’s mobile lifestyle,” said Scott Horn, general manager, Microsoft Corp. “The availability of Yahoo! Go for Mobile on Windows Mobile-powered phones will allow our customers to bring their favorite Yahoo! services to the devices they already rely on.”
