I bought one of these back at holiday special pricing in December. It can still be purchased in the upper $270 range if you take time to look around. But $320 is a very fair price point.

The DVI/HDMI port issue is not a problem. Just get a high quality adapter. A few bucks. Works like a charm. No quality loss with the adapter. < $6 online. You may need to initially connect VGA to have your OS work with the monitor until the digital monitor driver is installed. Make sure it is installed, and switch to it. In Vista at least.

Have a PS3 or XBox360? Plug it directly into DVI!

The stand is flimsy as the review states. I can attest to that. Minimal adjustments at best, but is adequate. Not a big deal at all.

The whites and color is quite good in my opinion. Sure, maybe not the best of the bunch but it still produces a very good image. I game on my home system a lot. The latest/greatest games look wonderful. I moved up from a high quality professional trinitron 19″ CRT. It is like day and night. Bright. Sharp.

While there are better monitors out there, for the price point this can’t be beat. Not everyone can afford the $400+ monitor, especially in these economic times. If you want a very decent 24″ LCD with fast response. This is one you should seriously consider.

Realize the P244W is a HD1080 monitor. 1920×1080 resolution, not the typical 1920×1200. It ends up being ever so slightly wider, and ever so slightly shorter top/bottom as a result. Don’t linger on that. It looks great, plus once I get my blueray player in, I’ll be watching movies at native 1080 HD res. No black borders as a result.

Works and is recognized by Vista. I use Vista 64 ultimate.

Some people are concerned with backlight/bleed. There is some on the top and bottom of the screen. Barely noticeable on black screens, otherwise not visible. Come on. don’t fret over it. It is an LCD. They all have it to a degree.

I give it 4/5 stars. It loses a star due to missing HDMI port (small issue). Flimsy stand (small issue). A slight technical challenge with digital driver on Vista. First boot with VGA, install drivers, switch to digital. Reboot.
