I have been using this at home ever since Half life 2 came out. I play alot of FPS games and am very happy with the performance. I finally decided to buy another one for work and am the envy of the office (No, my company would not foot the bill). Be warned folks – Once you go with this monitor you will never go back.

I have been using two of these 24″ 16:10 for years – there is no going back and I eagerly wait for affordable 1080p hdtv/computer displays over 30″. Check used markets, mine were about $200 ea. – size, weight worth the extra contrast and for the wf900, greater resolution.

I got this screen and it totally sucked for gaming, major horrible input LAG made it hard to aim on enemies. Coming from a Professional CS player it was shocking.
Everything else about this screen is perfect, minus that lag which ruined it for me and i sold it.

Nothing is better than watching a movie on this monitor.
The “low” is that it doesn’t have HDCP support. Shame on the reviewer for blaming Dell for not kowtowing to Hollywood and their oppressive DRM schemes.
PS. I also love how it is now 2/20/2006, and the review forward dated the edit, so that it looks like it was done on 3/2/2006.
“*Edited 3/2/06 – We changed the “cons” to to show our lack of dissapointment for no HDCP support via the DVI input.”
Well done

Okay, I have to counter the “Counter-Strike Source” person who stated this monitor is not ideal for PC Games. This monitor absolutely rocks with all the PC games I have played; CS Source, Quake 4, BF2, FEAR, etc. I go to a monthly LAN Party in my area and several other gamers also use this monitor and they LOVE IT. No screen tearing or ghosting whatsoever! With a 12ms black-to-white and 16ms grey-to-grey, this monitor rocks for gaming. Don’t believe the bad hype, seeing is believing! I do agree that with the Hollywood iron grip coming to the HDTV scene, I would recommend you wait for the HDMI ready version of this monitor if you don’t have this monitor already. Most of us would buy a PC monitor for PC use and a HDTV for watching HD video/movies – duh! Worst case for those of you who already own a 2405FPW is to use the HD output from your video card straight to your HDTV and whalla – problem solved! The newer graphic cards from ATI and NVIDIA both support HD video output (ATI X1900 and NVIDIA 7900 series). Regardless of the HDMI argument, this monitor is the best in it’s class and blows away the competition in price!

My e228wfpc flickers on start up and never recovers, after going into safe mode.
I have to disconnect the power supply and on start up. I am lucky sometimes that the monitor stays lit.

The Dell 2405FPW coupled with the Eye one Display 2 calibrator is magnificent and superb! Color calibration is a must. Delta E values average around 0.82 cdm.2. Although its 5 years old, It is still the top 3 lcd under 600. Due your research. Right now the best lcd in the market is the Dell 2408wfp. Yes, better than Apple’s 23″ cinema display but not better than the dell 2405fpw. Top three 24 ” lcd’s are Dell 2405fpw, Apple’s cinema 23″ and the best Dell 2408wfp. Due your research. photographers, graphic Designers Due your research.
