I was hesitant to purchase this due to Gateway’s past reputation and the low price, but I am glad I did. The picture looks great and I love that I can use it with my DVD player etc. It also works great for gaming.

I wanted a nice big LCD with lots of pixel real estate and the 2485 fit the bill. The only down side is the back light bleeding in the corners which becomes very distracting when watching a very wide aspect movie and the one year warranty which is relatively short for the LCD market where three years is the norm for mid to upper panels.

I bought this monitor through best buy. The monitor can recognize 1080p with my ps3 but if you change the input or the resolution, this monitor will go crazy. After changing the input such as Dvd player (480p), the information get the 480p. And than back to PS3, menu can not recognize 1080p. It shows 480p. So if you think with PS3 and DVD player, you should think about it.

For the price, the 2485 is basically the best monitor out there. Dell or Samsung cannot even come close. I do wish it had HDMI output though, but the fact that it supports 1080p and other HDTV resolutions and has HDCP support is amazing for a monitor, let alone one that costs around $600 bucks. I am glad I got one.

I had a relatively good experience with it exept I had unususal black ghosting, like the normal ghosting but instead of retaining its color it was black… This may have been a flaw in my speceific model however. I have yet to replace it because the Best Buy near me is sold out.

As soon as I took the 2485 out of the box, I was impressed. The stand is nice, and the monitor even pivots 90 degrees to read documents with one finger effort. There are no buttons to break or break the lines on the monitor, but a much higher-tech touch-sensitive control surface. I originally had some issues with text being a little messed up when using an analog connection, but switching to the DIV port fixed that. Speaking of ports, there are many different choices for connecting the monitor, so much that I wasn’t sure if I should use it as a computer monitor or a high-def TV. The USB 2.0 ports on the side and bottom are also convenient for connecting flash drives without having to lean over to put them into the ports on the computer. The colors are also nice, as I could not improve them using the Spyder 2 pro. My only complaint is that that the monitor puts off a lot of heat through the screen. Even my $130 generic 19 inch next to it stays cool to the touch and doesn’t throw off radiant heat. Either than that, I couldn’t find much else wrong with it. If you are looking for an all-around good computing monitor, this is it. Great job Gateway!

Eighteen months after buying this monitor, I remain impressed. Rotation, controls, inputs and wow… size(!) makes this an amazing monitor to use. I do a lot of translation work so it is really helpful to be able to have two Word documents open side by side without having two monitors. I sit comfortably at three feet away from the monitor and the text is crisp and clear. Actually I have decided to buy another one I’ve been so impressed with the quality and resolution. It will add to my Crysis experiences after work you know!!! Way to go Gateway!

I had a problem with the monitor losing a fraction of display at the bottom of screen until I eventually realized that I needed to keep the monitor setting at “automatic.”
For a while I thought it was in the PC video chip, since I could tweak its settings and get full display that way. Pesky annoyance every time I turned on the monitor.
Now, no problem, after I learned not to accidentally brush the sensor buttons and cause lost “automatic.”
The monitor is otherwise perfect. I have used it for more than a year.

My monitor stopped working after 17 months. The Gateway free support is completely unhelpful when out of warranty. I did a search and it seems like Gateway monitors have a high failure rate. See http://gatewaymonitors.blogspot.com/ Also Gateway stops even tracking failures after 12 months.

After 2.5 years, DEAD! I have had problems with it for the last 6 months. It has a mind of it’s own. I will never buy another EZTouch!

This monitor would be the worst thing you can get in life, even though other monitors fail normally on power supplies, capacitors, voltage regulators, I mean discrete components which are comprehensive issues in electronics, this monitor crashes you on the main video processor board mostly on the chip: FLI5962H which is the LCD controller, a big piece of Taiwan heatness chip. Then nothing to do but wait until someone else has this board in good condition to replace it.

This monitor costs an awful lot but it worked only for a while. All the while generating huge heat, and then finally, when the guarantee is no longer good, it just shuts down. No picture, no menu, nothing except the lit up controls. Gateway offers no help what-so-ever. I’m not impressed.
