This monitor is easily the best I’ve used. Its clarity is excellent, colours are vibrant, and it’s simply great for writing code. IMHO it’s excellent value for money too. The speakers are what you’d expect from your average PC quality speakers. The challenge for me finding where to buy more of these in Australia – I bought the last one at Officeworks, and the major computer shops don’t seem to stock it.

This is an awesome monitor..once I got used to the size of it sitting on my desk after useing a 17″ for soo long..The image is crystal clear. I’ve played Quake4 on it, with no slow downs, and you can put full Excel and Word pages side by side.
And to answer Linus’s review,I bought this at Joyce Mayne Computers(An offshoot of Harvey Norman) in Townsville Qld.
My only gripe is the menu buttons along the bottom, are too flush with the case, and someone with big fingers will have a bit of trouble pushing them. Other than that, a fantastic monitor

I purchased this monitor to use at trade shows. It’s great for running demos. Highly visible even up to 10 feet away. Light enough to attach to our trade show display.

I am now on my 4th monitor in 6 months! On 2, the Power Button broke and stuck inside the case. One replacement monitor was DOA. Now, the latest one, has developed a solid green line about 1.5 inches in from the left screen edge, from the top to bottom of the screen.

My power button also snapped and lodged inside, after only 1 month of use. I am very careful with my equipment too. Not a good sign that a task as major as ‘powering on’ would be given to a button that malfuntions so easily. This monitor would have been a 10 if not for that, great hookups for multimedia, love the USB’s right on the side of it, but if I can’t turn it on, what’s the point?

I’ve had this monitor for about 3 months and so far I am very pleased with it. The images are exceptionally clear and I still stare at it occasionally with satisfaction.

    Well this screen is awesome!
First I had Samsung 151T 15” I got 3.5 years ago. It did a good job. For back then it was a good screen. Then I moved up to Samsung 931B it was ok screen but had a bad luck with dead pixels. I had Samsung for about 2 weeks and then I got ViewSonic VA1912wb after using it for 2 months I wanted some thing bigger. ViewSonic was a good screen and performed well. Next one was HP F2105 this screen is better quality in general then previous screens I used (picture, build, material, speakers etc.). I do a bit of gaming and 12 ms response time runs games (Doom 3, Quake 4, Call of Duty 2) with no prob. I don’t see any deference from ViewSonic which had 8ms response time and HP is 12. When you watch DVD the screen does a good job of showing picture. Images are good quality. One thing I was really impressed with is speakers in the screen. I just compared them to VA1912wb and HP is way better sound quality. For small speakers like that it pretty good. Picture quality of the screen is very good. I would defiantly recommend this product.

Stay away from this product. Like many others, I was very happy with the picture quality on this monitor. However, 4 weeks out of warranty, the small round power button on the front of the monitor broke (disappearing into the case) which renders the whole monitor useless. HP customer support couldn’t care less–they tried to sell me another monitor. HP doesn’t even offer any kind of paid-for repair service that would help me recover part of my investment. Since I can see from Google searches that the power button problem is common with the HP F2105 (many are breaking inside the warranty after only light use), you would do well to trust this product no longer than its warranty period.

I like the monitor, have not had an issue with the buttons. Three days age I had a blue vertical blue line 2/3rds from the center, today now I have a red vertical line near the blue line. HP says they will replace it. I only have 3 months left on warranty. I hope this is not a common problem.

I had one monitor replaced because of the above mentioned power button. Now I have the blue vertical line. Don’t even try to speak to HP tech support…..you will not be able to understand them. use the chat feature

My monitor is less than 2 months old, just developed a thin yellow line from top to bottom, 3 inch’s from the right hand side. Is this fixable or does the monitor have to be replaced?

6 months and 5 days (5 days past warranty) 1 yellow and 1 blue vertical line appeared on the screen. HP support – says – looks like you have a hardware failure but, oh, too bad, it is out of warranty. Pretty poor performance considering the cost.

After only a year (just out of warranty) the power button has broken off and fallen into the monitor. Talk about bad quality – I expected it to last 5 years or more..

The same thing happened to our power button after about a year… glad we purchased the extended warranty. All around great picture. DVI compatible monitor w/ speakers is nice, as well as a style that is coordinated with our HP tower.

I purchased two monitors 6 months ago; one developed a vertical magenta line and two days later the other monitor developed a yellow line. These are used for graphics in a business and are always on so there seems to be an hours-of-use issue. HP is a company that is on the ball and I have no doubt they working to resove this issue post haste.

I also have developed the vertical blue line after only 1 week with the monitor. Called tech support, what a joke. She didn’t even know the difference between a VGA and a DVI monitor. She didn’t know what a port was. I will be returning this and buying a Dell. I have the Dell gold support on my computer and they will include the monitor on that if I buy a Dell monitor. The Gold tech support guys answer the phone in less than 60 seconds and I have never asked them a question that they couldn’t answer quickly, usually without even having to look it up. Also, they have American accents!

Our monitor is less than 12 months old and not long after purchase developed a yellow line running vertically down the monitor. Now we also have a blue line that’s recently appeared. After multiple calls to HP and upgrading our warranty to get this fixed, HP have been absolutely no help at all. They’ve done nothing but give us the run-around and tell us that the upgraded warranty we bought – which cost $100 – doesn’t cover the monitor! Go figure. They’ve been no help and don’t seem to care. We’ll never buy another HP product again after this experience!

Another solution to those pesky broken power buttons is a very simple one. Remove the back plate, take off the stand. Lay monitor face down and pry carefully the metal face off (there are 2 little push holes on the underside between the black back casing and the silver front). Take the black back casing off. On the left bottom side where the push button is located you will see a narrow circuit board. Unscrew this and you will have access to the broken off power button. You will notice that the button has a little round side button which actually presses the switch on the circuit board off to the right. On the left side you will see a small plastic bridge. The power button was connected to this bridge with 2 very narrow bendable plastic pins (the bad boys that broke). Now get one of those “store club” key chain cards which actually have a little keychain hole in them for the LED light that lights up the power button, cut it to size and superglue it on the bridge and the power button. Test to make sure it actually is lined up properly, reassemble and you have your .07$ fix as opposed to the $675 replacement cost HP quoted me (note that their current 22″ is $330 and the 24″ is $570)

As Bjorn Stellar mentioned above, it’s much cheaper, faster, and stronger to just fix the power button yourself. I used a $4.00 electric hot gun for the repair which is fast and permanent. Remove the back cover as Bjorn described. Align the power button to its original location, with the 2 plastic ‘bridge’ pieces touching each other, where the break occured. Now just run a thick line of hot glue across both of these ‘bridges’. Let it cool and presto! You now have a quick and simple repair which should last indefinitely. I love my HP F2105 monitor and except for its cheapie power button assembly, it’s been a great LCD otherwise! Excellent picture & text.

I have had the HP F2105 Monitor for over 3 years now, nothing is wrong with it, try re-plugging some of the plugs and maybe you’ll fix it, and I have had no problems with this monitor. Perfect, reliable, and great quality. If only it had that little plug-cover thing like the View Sonic LCD Monitor does.

Monitor started developing vertical lines about a month after warranty expiration (1 year) at 18 months it now has 3 such lines. HP offered to let me buy a discount refurbished one of a similar size for $300 – other than that though they said too bad.

Warranty is sub-par for the monitor price and industry standards (Samsung & Viewsonic, for example are 3 years).

This vertical line issue seems to be a common problem on this monitor – perhaps we should seek legal guidance and file a class action suit.

My beautiful monitor lasted exactly the length of the warranty and then told me “Monitor going to sleep”, and I can’t wake it up!

My power button broke 2 months after my factory warranty expired as well. Totally inexcusable! With a lot of people reporting identical power button problems, I’m surprised that a class action lawsuit hasn’t been launched against HP. They really do deserve one for putting out defective items like this.

Had the monitor for about 2.5 years, Great image and great added connections. Last week it started going to sleep for no reason. An image would flash on then immediately go back to sleep. Even disconnected, it would only show the “no signal” page goes away. Luckily I purchased an extended warranty from SAMs and they are replacing the monitor.
