Last week during a press conference in Cannes, France Jackie Chan announced that he would no longer be making big action movies. The 68-year-old actor is tired of making overly violent movies and wants to prove his acting chops with more dramatic roles.
With that being said, Chan does have one more big action movie that will go down in the books. Chinese Zodiac follows an old Chan character, Asian Hawk, who Chan played previously in Operation Condor and Armour of God. This time Hawk is hunting 12 bronze heads of the animals of the Chinese zodiac. Watching the trailer was reminiscent of the cartoon that premiered in the early 2000s Jackie Chan Adventures which was heavily centered around zodiac symbology and artifacts.
At the moment Chinese Zodiac does not have a U.S. release date, though it is set to for a December release in China and Hong Kong. It’s unclear when it will make the jump to the States, if it will at all.
