If you are at all interested in any of the movies that are being bandied about as potential Oscar winners this year then you might want to check out In Darkness.
In Darkness is up for best foreign language film and is from Poland. It’s set in Lvov, Poland during World War II. The film follows Leopold Socha, a sewer worker and petty thief, who encounters a group of Jewish people attempting to escape the Germans. They pay Socha to hide them and he puts them in the labyrinth of the town’s sewers. It was directed by Agnieszka Holland
The film received a limited U.S. release on the 10th of this month but it should make the rounds now that it has some Oscar buzz. Keep an eye out for it if you’re interested in the Oscars at all.
