Yesterday, Good Morning America got a 45-second trailer for Disney’s upcoming John Carter. It was actioned-packed and showed Taylor Kitsch flying around killing all kinds of stuff. Later in the day Disney released a fuller version of the trailer, coming in at nearly two minutes.
The latest film based on the Edgar Rice Burroughs novel is coming from Andrew Stanton, who previously directed Pixar’s Wall-E and Finding Nemo. He also helped write several other Pixar films. It should be interesting to see how he and other Pixar alum, Brad Bird, transition into live-action.
The new John Carter tells the story of former military captain John Carter (Kitsch), who is somehow transported to Mars. He becomes embroiled in a conflict between inhabitants of the planet. Some names to look out for in this one include Willem Dafoe, Thomas Hayden Church, Bryan Cranston and Dominic West (of The Wire).
John Carter is due out on March 9, 2012.
