With all of the hoopla surrounding The Avengers (which hits theaters this Friday) and Prometheus, we almost forgot about Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises. Almost. That’s an astounding feat considering how much excitement the Rises IMAX prologue generated, and how much we–and the millions of fans around the world that helped push it past the $1 billion line–loved The Dark Knight.
But there’s still some time for the Batman hype machine to get rolling again since the movie doesn’t actually release until July 20, which is plenty of time for The Avengers (May 4) and Prometheus (June 8) to set the box office on fire and then be forgotten (just like the record-breaking and now mostly forgotten Hunger Games). But just in case, Warner Brothers released a third trailer for the conclusion to Nolan’s Bat trilogy which will be attached to The Avengers.
If you need a refresher on why you should be excited for Rises, we recommend this trailer to remind you why we were excited for the movie in the first place. Bane is easier to understand (the prologue led to a lot of complaints about his voice being t0o garbled), Catwoman’s role is fleshed out, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt gets more screen time. It’s still unclear what his role in the film will actually be, but IMDB describes the character as a “hard-nosed young Gotham beat cop.” Some internet speculation suggests that he will take up Wayne’s mantel.
Summer 2012 is dropping blockbuster after blockbuster, which can be exhausting, especially when they all look so good. Try not to let the excitement wear you out this summer and at least survive until July 20 when The Dark Knight Rises hits theaters.
