Watch Zac Efron and Robert DeNiro take on spring break in the Dirty Grandpa trailer

Lionsgate has released the first trailer for Dirty Grandpa, the upcoming raunchy, odd-couple comedy that pairs Robert De Niro and Zac Efron up for a trip to Daytona for spring break. And it doesn’t take long for the film to justify its title.

In fact, this could be one of the raunchier movies to feature a two-time Oscar winner in one of the lead roles.

In the film, Efron plays an uptight soon-to-be-married man who’s tricked into driving his grandfather (De Niro) to Florida just a few days before the wedding. The pair ends up in Daytona during spring break, and Efron’s character soon discovers that his grandfather has plans to party that extend well beyond anything he’s accustomed to in his overly managed, tame life.

The trailer debuted on BuzzFeed and features De Niro and Efron engaging in all manner of spring break debauchery, from drinking and drugs to T-shirt contests and trysts with college co-eds.

Along with Efron and De Niro, the film stars Julianne Hough (Rock of Ages), Aubrey Plaza (The To-Do List), Dermot Mulroney (My Best Friend’s Wedding), Zoey Deutch (Vampire Academy), Jason Mantzoukas (The League), Adam Pally (The Mindy Project), and Henry Zebrowski (The Wolf of Wall Street). The film is directed by Dan Mazer (I Give It a Year) from a script by first-time screenwriter John Phillips.

Phillips’ script for Dirty Grandpa was originally featured on the 2011 edition of the Hollywood “blacklist” — a list of screenplays  that are well-liked by filmmakers but have yet to be made into movies.

Originally scheduled to hit theaters this Christmas, Dirty Grandpa was eventually pushed back in the studio’s release calendar and will now arrive in theaters Jan. 22, 2016. There’s currently no rating for the film yet.

The first weekend in May has arrived, and Hulu fans should be happy to hear that there's a new lineup of movies to enjoy. Like most of the major streamers, Hulu debuts the majority of its library additions on the first of the month. But there will more movies released on Hulu throughout May.

Since the first weekend of May is traditionally timed around the opening of a superhero movie, our first choice this weekend is a comic book film that's celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. Our other two picks include Tom Hanks' directorial debut, and a generation-spanning drama that holds up three decades after its release.
