Earlier this week, we got a look at the first official image from the upcoming, all-female Ghostbusters reboot (above) and yesterday, Sony released dedicated character posters for each member of the phantasm-fighting troupe.
As reported by The Verge, the posters debuted in Entertainment Weekly, Time, People, and InStyle respectively. You can check them out below, along with director Paul Feig’s description of each individual Ghostbuster.
Erin Gilbert (Kristen Wiig) – Particle physicist, academic firebrand, spectral warrior
Jillian Holtzman (Kate McKinnon) – Nuclear engineer, munitions expert, and proton wrangler
Abby Yates (Melissa McCarthy) – Paranormal researcher, supernatural scientist, and entity trapper
Patty Tolan (Leslie Jones) – Ghost tracker, municipal historian, and metaphysical commando
All four ladies seem to be sporting some serious attitude in these posters and each seems to have a look that says — a la Peter Venkman — “we came, we saw, we kicked its a**.” The familiar catchphrase “who you gonna call” is printed on the bottom of each image and, by the looks of things, these ladies should have no problem handling all of your paranormal elimination needs.
The black & white palette with shocks of color is a really cool aesthetic and, though all of the posters are fun, we’re partial to Kate McKinnon’s Jillian Holtzman who — with her golden goggles and proton pack — seems to have plenty of swagger to spare.
Hopefully, the release of these marketing materials means that it won’t be long before we get some sort of teaser/trailer for the film, but we’ve had no news on that front yet.
Ghostbusters is set to hit theaters July 15, 2016 and in addition to the four principles, Bill Murray (Dr. Peter Venkman), Dan Aykroyd (Dr. Ray Stantz), Ernie Hudson (Winston Zeddemore), Sigourney Weaver (Dana Barrett), and Annie Potts (Janine Melnitz) will all appear in the film.
