Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 first-look

“So there is this story about a kid, and he’s all like, magic and stuff!”  When J.K. Rowling first uttered those words to her prospective publisher (although probably a bit more eloquent sounding), there is no way they could have possibly known that the seven series of book would—in its own small way—change the world.

Now 16 years later, the books have become a firm part of our pop-culture, and both Rowling and her protagonist are household names. But all good things must come to an end as they say, and this summer, Harry Potter will conclude it memorable run when the eighth and final movie concludes the adaptation of the seven books.

The first part, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 did alright at the box-office, raking in $24 million. In the midnight showing. From there it went on to take just shy of $952 million worldwide, and that number will expand on April 11 when the film is released on home media. But while the home release of Part 1 is eagerly expected, it is nothing compared to the anticipation for the second film.

Comingsoon.net has posted a first-look at the upcoming finale. Part trailer, part diary, the clip shows off a bit of what fans of the books have been looking forward to. Check out the clip below, and look for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 in 2D, 3D and IMAX on July 15.

We need to stop taking Guy Ritchie for granted
Guy Ritchie looks at a monitor on set of The Gentlemen.

Few directors have had a more prolific past five years than Guy Ritchie. The filmmaker, once known best for his late 1990s/early 2000s British gangster movies, has fully completed his transition from scrappy upstart to reliable studio director. He began that journey in the late 2000s and continued it throughout the 2010s when he agreed to direct films like Sherlock Holmes, King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, and — in one of the strangest creative decisions in Hollywood history — Disney's live-action Aladdin. There were multiyear gaps between a few of those movies, though, and all four of his 2010s titles (including 2015's The Man from U.N.C.L.E.) were connected, in some form or another, to a preexisting piece of intellectual property.

This decade, Ritchie's already released five movies: The Gentlemen, Wrath of Man, Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre, The Covenant, and The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare. On top of that, he's already made a sixth (2025's In the Grey) and written and directed multiple episodes of The Gentlemen, a Netflix series he created based on his 2019 film of the same name. After spending 10 years floating through the world of high-budget IP filmmaking, Ritchie has turned himself into his own industry that produces at least one action movie a year.
