Marvel unveils pictures for Phase Two

Almost a year after phase one culminated with the successful production of The Avengers, Marvel has released a swath of new photos revealing some of their plans for Phase Two. Fans who bought the new “Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase One – Avengers Assembled Blu-ray box set” were directed to BattleofNewYork.net, where they were given exclusive access to a five-minute preview of Phase Two, along with a look behind the scenes and a treasure trove of concept images.

The shots are a mixture of live-action photos taken from movies currently in production and concept art for films that haven’t yet started principal photography. Among them are a handful of stills taken from the set of Thor: The Dark World, as well as a bunch of concept drawings for the upcoming films Captain America: Winter Soldier and Guardians of the Galaxy. Also included are a few shots from the test footage Edgar Wright created for his take on Ant Man, a film that isn’t slated for release until 2015 when Phase Three kicks off.

Zack Snyder's crossover epic begins with Bruce Wayne recounting a dream he had about the death of his parents. This sequence juxtaposes Thomas and Martha's murders with Bruce's fall into a bat-filled cave, symbolizing his descent into grief following this tragedy. Each frame of this beautiful scene looks like a panel from an actual comic book, and the somber song that plays in this scene captures the loss of Bruce's innocence at the hands of a random criminal.
And with the swarm of bats carrying him into the light, audiences see his rise out of that darkness as Batman. But this proves to be a brief glimmer of hope, as the film later shows how far the Dark Knight has fallen after facing so much tragedy and heartbreak in the pursuit of this "beautiful lie."

As the Marvel Cinematic Universe has continued to expand, so too have the powers of the people inside of it. What started out with Tony Stark in a mechanized super suit has slowly but unmistakably transformed into a universe filled with beings who are basically and sometimes literally gods. Marvel Studios' Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania has finally premiered in theaters, starting Phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with a wild bang. In Scott Lang's third solo film in the MCU, he and his loved ones are sucked into the Quantum Realm, where they are forced to face the time-traveling villain, Kang the Conqueror.

Like many other Marvel movies, Quantumania is filled with references to previous MCU films and the comic book source material. Now that the film has been released to the public, readers can now see the list of all the Easter eggs found throughout Ant-Man and the Wasp's latest subatomic adventure.
