The rumored addition of Elektra to the second season of Netflix’s Daredevil is now a reality. Marvel announced Tuesday that French actress Elodie Yung will fill the role. Having played Jinx in the combat-heavy G.I. Joe: Retaliation, Yung seems well-equipped to hold her own as fan favorite antihero/assassin Elektra.

Fans picked up on the fact that Marvel was planning to add the character, thanks to veiled references in season 1. In the second, she’ll be introduced as “a mysterious woman from Matt Murdock’s past whose dangerous and exotic ways may be more than he can handle,” according to Marvel. Executive producer and head of Marvel Television Jeph Loeb said, “Paired with Charlie as Matt Murdock, the two will bring one of the most beloved and tumultuous comic book relationships to life with all the accompanying sparks and spectacular action sequences the show is known for.” It sounds we can expect a little more loving to go with all the fighting.

It took a worldwide search to find Yung, but Marvel seems happy with the decision. Loeb referred to her as “the perfect actress to embody both Elektra’s impressive and deadly physicality, as well as her psychological complexity.” She won’t be the only newcomer; The Walking Dead‘s Jon Bernthal recently signed on to play The Punisher.

Season 2 is already filming, and will pick up where the first season left off, following the adventures of Matt Murdock, a modern-day crime-fighter whose sense became superhuman after he was blinded in a childhood accident. The series also stars Charlie Cox, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Jon Bernthal, and Rosario Dawson.

Why you should watch The Amazing Spider-Man 2 on Netflix
Andrew Garfield in "The Amazing Spider-Man 2."

This month, Netflix has welcomed The Amazing Spider-Man 2 back to its lineup, and it has quickly become one of the most popular movies on Netflix. That makes this the perfect opportunity to tell you why you should watch The Amazing Spider-Man 2 on Netflix.

Now, we would never argue that The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is the best Spider-Man film or even a great one. It's got a lot of problems, including a truly grotesque Green Goblin design, a very unconvincing performance by Dane DeHaan as Harry Osborn, and a take on Electro (Jamie Foxx) that feels like it was lifted directly from Batman Forever. This film also tries so hard to set up an MCU-style Spider-Man universe that it wildly underperformed at the box office and led Sony Pictures to partner directly with Marvel Studios for the Tom Holland-led Spider-Man flicks.

A group of excited girls enter a room in Love Is Blind.

More singles head back into the pods for their shot at true romance in Love Is Blind season 5. It's only been five months since The Love Is Blind season 4 live reunion, which didn't go at all as planned. Nevertheless, the reality TV series returns this month with an eclectic group of singles from Houston looking for love.

Hosted by Nick and Vanessa Lachey, Love Is Blind is a social experiment where men and women build connections through conversation. Contestants can't see each other while secluded in their "pods." Instead, the singles go on dates while communicating through a speaker within their pod. Couples will only meet face-to-face when a marriage proposal is brought forward. The couples then live with each other for a few weeks. In the end, the couples choose to get married or split up.

7 Netflix shows that deserve another season
The cast of Netflix's show Sense8 embracing.

Netflix has weathered numerous controversies, scandals, and criticisms since its rise to prominence in the early 2010s. However, the streamer is stronger than ever, churning out content like nobody's business and securing its place as the undeniable king of its industry, especially as the streaming world seemingly collapsed onto itself.

Indeed, Netflix has many great movies and shows, some of which have earned prominent accolades. However, Netflix has also become infamous for pulling the plug on its shows after the faintest sign of weakness; if a show is not a hit from the get-go, they cancel it without so much as a warning. This cutthroat attitude has led to the cancelation of many objectively great shows; these projects had critical and audience support and are wholly deserving of another season.
