The first teaser trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man hits the Internet

Although fanboys may never have the agony and the ecstasy of a true Spider-Man versus Batman showdown (not counting fan-fiction and the possible DC/Marvel crossover that would inevitably leave both groups irate), but a bit of a proxy battle has been launched this week in the form of movie trailers. The next entries into both the Batman and the Spider-Man franchises won’t hit theaters until next July, but the war for the hearts and minds of fans have begun as both films have released trailers in time for Comic-Con.

Earlier this week we got our first glimpse of Christopher’s Nolan’s trilogy ending, The Dark Knight Rises. The trailer debuted in front of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows-Part 2, which opened last Friday. Soon after, Warner Bros. released the trailer into the wild of the intertubes.

Not to be outdone, Columbia Pictures has released the first look at next summer’s Spidey reboot from director Marc Webb titled, The Amazing Spider-Man. The teaser trailer will be attached to Captain America: The First Avenger, which opens on Friday. But never one to pass up a good party, the first trailer for The Avengers has also leaked online as well. Most, if not all, posts with that trailer have been removed by request of the studio, but you can see the trailer for yourself following the credits of Captain America.

The battle for the bragging honors of top superhero film of 2012 will begin next summer when The Avengers is released on May 4, The Amazing Spider-Man hits theaters on July 3, and The Dark Knight Rises is released on July 20. For now, check out the new Spidey trailer starring Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone and Rhys Ifans.

12 movies that should’ve been longer
suicide squad review 001

While many people these days complain about movies being too long, there are still plenty of movies that should've been longer, even the ones now considered masterpieces. If certain films had more time to develop their characters and plotlines, they certainly would've been looked upon much more fondly by audiences.

From superhero epics to horror pictures like Candyman, these films deserved more time to flesh out their characters and develop their plots. Some audiences might not like having to sit still in theaters, but it would've been worth it for these movies to improve in quality.

Two teens hang upside in a scene from Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.

In 2018, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse became a groundbreaking achievement in animation due to its stunning visuals, adventurous storytelling, and fresh take on the superhero genre. Five years later, Miles Morales is set to make his highly anticipated return to the big screen in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, and Sony has just released a trailer for the film.

In the trailer, Miles (Shameik Moore) returns to Brooklyn and reunites with Gwen Stacy/Spider-Woman (Hailee Steinfeld). While traveling across the multiverse, Miles meets new, interesting Spider-People. However, when the Spot (Jason Schwartzman) threatens the entire multiverse, the Spider-People disagree on how to handle the situation. This leads to an epic showdown as Miles battles the other Spider-People toward the end of the trailer.

The Amazing Spider-Man at 10: Was Andrew Garfield the best Spidey of them all?
Andrew Garfield Spider-man

Whatever you may have thought of its quality, Spider-Man: No Way Home was undoubtedly the biggest movie of 2021. Just when many assumed that movie theaters had bit the dust, No Way Home came through and smashed all expectations for how it would perform at the box office. One of the reasons the movie did so well is because it united Tom Holland's Peter Parker with Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield's versions of the character. And, somewhat shockingly, Garfield manages to walk away with the whole movie.

Holland and Maguire are great, and Maguire especially seems to fall back into his performance as Peter Parker with ease after more than a decade away from the role. Garfield, though, has emerged as the most venerated actor of the three, and his Peter may be the most tragic.
