The K-box portable speaker is great for travel and people on the go. It’s small, gives a good loud sound and if you use two speakers (as traditionally would be stereo) you get a ‘stereo’ effect. The audio quality is surprisingly good coming from such a small device and the fact that it couples with surfaces to produce a bass range is very interesting from such a very small portable speaker. It can charge by USB or you can also use a USB to mains adapter to charge it. So, you can charge it either via your computer’s USB or by a normal wall plug.

I had the opportunity to try this out in Glasgow last week on a visit.
In short, it was abysmal.
It continually produces a buzzing sound even when no sound plays (much like the cheapo NXT flat speakers you get), the bass is 100% dependent on the surface you put it on, so unless you carry tables on window panes to the park or beach etc, it’s main gimmick will be next to useless.
That said, you can get reasonable bass from ã10-ã20 speakers from Altec Lansing XMI and the like, if you want to spend the kind of money they want for this (ã55!!), then a JBL on tour is a little cheaper and absolutely annihilates this in terms of sound quality, is well made, has it’s own bass and and a proper iPod/iPhone dock to boot.
So in summary, avoid. Would possibly be worth a punt if it was reduced to a tenner as a curious novelty, but to actually use as a music device? Forget it, it’s rubbish.

I bought one of these a couple of weeks ago and so far I’m pretty satisfied with it. First off you have to realize that this is totally unlike any other speaker you’ve heard or seen before due to the way it actually works.
The underside is a sticky kind of gel that resonates when an audio signal is pumped through it and this resonates the surface it’s attached to. So you sort of get different results from different things you stick it on. A sort of bright sound on glass and a really nice deep bass on anything hard and hollow. There is another speaker on the top to cover the high end frequency and it does a reasonable job of it.
IMHO the main feature of this is it’s size – A heck of a lot smaller than some more expensive speakers I’ve bought and yet the bass sound is far better.
