This thing is so small it’s amazing. Not only that, but it feels rugged. It feels like it will take a beating and keep ticking. I love how the sliders for the shuffle and on/off are metal as well.
This is a great work out mp3 player.

I received my Shuffle on November 2. This 2G crap is misleading so letâs clarify that it is only 1 gigabyte. I returned it to Fedex for return on November 3 as it was classified as “dead on arrival”.
Yes I paid the +$55 for the year warranty which ensured me wonderful and prompt service incase such an event took place but have since realized that this was a bunch of crap.
To sum up everything in a nutshell…
a. I wanted my money back but they cannot do it because it was personalized. Even though I was told by level 2 support that they will throw away the one I returned.
b. The technical support has to be embarrassing for Apple as 1st level is worthless. They could not even figure out had to transfer me to sales and one even kept saying his computer was having problems. I bet he was not on a PC…haha. What a joke.
c. Here it is the 14th of November and I have no Apple. I am a fool for buying from the Apple Store but was assured I would have mine before anyone else had it. Guess what I saw at Wal-Mart yesterday and it was actually $78.88 which is cheaper than Apple ($79). Think Wal-Mart would just exchange the shuffle if it was dead on arrival?
d. Apple has had my money since early October.
e. The employees of Apple are either totally untrained or trained to lie as nothing they have said has been truthful.
This is my last experience with Apple as the only thing of quality they offer is their marketing approach. I cannot understand why so many fools out there continue to buy into all of their crap about superiority to PC. Like their employees…this is a lie…..

Dolby – you are sadly mistaken. 2G in this case, doesn’t mean 2 Gigabytes. It means 2nd Generation. 2GB is a gig notation. If you bought it from apple.com and it sounds like you did, nowhere is it called 2G on apple.com/ipodshuffle – that’s the press. Your brain is fried. – Also, it’s not November 14. Your ‘review’ or rather, crybaby rant, is timestamped Nov 12 8:59am – a Sunday morning. Get a life, Ballmer fanboy, go get a Zune and beam me a song.

I think this is the best Mp3 player I have had it is small and weighs next to nothing. I really enjoy having it but I hated it when it was back ordered it took for ever to get it I have read other reviews and people complain about a hissing noise during quiet periods of a song but I have not experienced this problem.

I bought it at Circuit City 2 days ago and am glad I did. I use this iPod shuffle only for working out and running so I have no need for a screen: I turn on, press play, and that’s it. It’s very lightweight and am able to clip it onto my shirtsleeve or shirtbottom. You don’t even feel the weight of the player tugging your shirt because it’s so light. I’ve used many different mp3 players (iRiver, sansa) and this one is my favorite so far. And for the price, it’s hard to beat.

We bought my 7 yr old son a new shuffle for XMas, and he absolutely loves it. Obviously we buy his music for him, so he doesnt have a huge library, so the storage space is perfect.
We were some what worried about the size, and that he might lose it, but that’s not the case for him (your situation may be different.) He likes to clip it to the collar of his shirt, and he walks around the house singing.
Probably one of the better gifts we’ve given to him.

I have have had my iPod shuffle for 3 days now, and I love it! It has the whole package. Even though it’s small, the sound quality compares to other iPods. The clip is very conveinant and the battery is very reliable.

In my opinion it is by far the best MP3 player I have used, I like it more than the other iPod models. The only thing that can be improved is the memory, but anyway I use it just 3-4 hours per day while I am travelling in the subway or walking, so I refill it just once a week for 10min. I had another mp3 player before buying the shuffle with bigger memory and screen, but I realised that I am using it only for shuffle and I never even use the screen. Also, I often run in the park and ride a bike and the shuffle is just perfect for sports. Maybe teens prefer other iPod models, because of bigger memory, videos, other extras, etc. But if you want simply to listen to music with one touch and not filling your pockets with even more accessories (wallet and phone is enough if you ask me), then iPod shuffle is the answer.

The IPod shuffle is excellent because of its easy-ness to use and its ability to hold 1GB. The shuffle is perfect for exercising and walking to school, work etc. The only negative is that it has no FM radio.
If you want an mp3 player for simple use, the IPod shuffle is the choice for most.

I love this little guy but am on my 4th one (all 2nd gen) in 7 months. I use it for running (usually 40-50 minute runs) and am very careful with it. The most accumulated time that I have gotten is 10 hours. They have failed for a variety of reasons, the last one being that the battery would not hold a charge overnight. Apple has replaced each failed unit at no cost to me.

After about 10 hours of use it does not work anymore. I may have spend 15 hours trying to fix it. I reloaded the software many times. The online apple store is now asking for my credit card number to service it under warranty. This is like most electronic: you are throwing money to garbage.

I just received one of these as an unexpected gift. I did not open it or try it as I suspected it would not be useful. Based on reading many reviews and the technical specifications, I have decided to return it. My phone is a better option.
It is always with me, so I have one device instead of two.
It has a screen so I can select the track that I want.
I can couple the phone to the car stereo. I could not do this with the Shuffle.
I can charge the phone from the car cradle or household current–do not need a computer. And, I have two batteries for the phone
I can easily change the flash memory card in the phone
Am I missing something?

Pros:
I got my iPod shuffle for Christmas of 2008. We are now in September 2009 and it still works like a charm. This iPod has lasted longer then all my other ones including, the 1st gen iPod shuffle.
When I opened it I was amazed at how small it was and the way Apple packaged it. They really put in a lot of thought.
I do wish it had a USB connection built in and did not need the stupid dongle but I guess that has to do with making it smaller.
I love to use this on public transit, when I go jogging, and in my bed before I sleep! It works perfectly fine! Well, when jogging ear buds can fall out but not too often. It also looks great with clothes you wear. I have a green iPod shuffle.
* Via iTunes you can allow it to automatically convert songs to a lower rate so that it takes less space and quality BARELY changes. So now before you could hold 240 songs to well close to 500!
The cons to this iPod:
*It’s small. Sometimes I lose it but I guess that’s my fault not the iPods.
*Since you can’t have *multiple* play-lists on the iPod it can be sort of annoying if you need it for certain things. For example for my jogs I would use more upbeat music. When I want to go to bed I prefer slower music but if upbeat music gets played I fined myself having trouble sleeping as it sort of increases my heart rate. You CAN add play lists on iTunes so what I do is I make the play-list on iTunes, and for example, if I want to go for a jog I just drag the playlist onto my iPod via iTunes. When I want to go to bed I delete the jogging songs off and then put in my “lullabies”. It’s less convenient then other iPods because you would never have to keep deleting and uploading.
* The crappy loading dock. It’s annoying. If you need your shuffle on multiple computers for *charging* purposes only. I liked how the original shuffle (gum stick) just plugged into your computer and voila. If I want to use my iPod as a flash drive I need the stupid dock. If your dock breaks that’s $30 to get it replaced
* Can not sync songs to more then one computer! With the iPod shuffle your songs can only be synced to one computer. If you do try you have to delete all your songs first. Super annoying if you want to get some of your friends songs from their computer.
* You need iTunes! I personally hate iTunes because I find it very slow. With the 1st gen iPod you could just drag and drop your mp3 files. Now you need to import them to iTunes then to your iPod. Sometimes iTunes won’t take songs you already have on your computer!
Overall it is a good product though.

A little hard to figure out at first, but then we found out that we were just morons doing it all wrong, when it was actually really easy. I love it because I am only ten years old, and I don’t need that much music space. It was cheap enough for me to buy with $50 of my saved money (allowance, birthday money, Channukkah money). I love it, and I wish I could take it to school! It would really put a spin on some of my classes!
