If all you want is an MP3 player, Zune is good. It is also good, albeit slow, when trying to load video. The quality, however is excellent.

Audiobooks? Terrible. You cannot see what audiobooks you have installed from the Zune software, you have to use a third party program. Installing books you buy is pretty straight forward, but converting already owned books is a hassle.

Forget about deleting them. There is no mechanism for removing an audiobook other than a very convoluted process that involves trying to install a new book with the OverDrive Transfer Wizard, then deleting each file individually from the directory listing.

This is neither intuitive nor easy. If your audio book has 20 sections, you have to delete each one individually. You cannot highlight the lot and delete at once.

The computer is supposed to make repetitive tasks faster and simpler. The Zune does neither. Even the MP3 player has it’s drawbacks, but at least they can be managed.

It’s a great player with good sound and awesome video, but the user interface seems to be typical Microsoft — “Do it my way, dummy, because I’m smarter than you.” Remember Bob?
