The MSI Megastick 1 128MB is brilliant. It has a blue backlit disply and the headphones are better than on the MSI 256 MB. I have a special program to make the song have less memory so it is perfest for me. I can fit up to 200 songs so it is great. The MSI 128MB is a huge bargain!

what you can not read in any of these “instant” reviews is following: i own the stick (128mb) since dec2003 and have noticed strange behavior, that i found in no review of megastick until now and i have read 3-6 articles before and after i bought it. if you want to use it for your mp3-collection, there is no problem – anything in stereo or mono, cbr, vbr from 32 to 320kbits will play great. of course only with kossportapro-headphones or equal, not with those stupid ear-plugs shipped. not worth to mention in a review. but if you would like to listen to wma-files longer than aprx. 2 minutes, the sound begins to skip. the longer the song and higher the wma-version (7, 8, 9) the more significant the skips are. the next thing is rewinding inside a longer song (+2 minutes) – it brings the megastick to crash and restart, especially inside wma. i suppose a firmware or cpu-power problem. you should also check the recording from radio-source – it makes sound-skips in the recorded sessions too. and finally, deleting files without connecting to pc does not work always great (“delete all” will leave some songs in memory). btw – it’s not necessary to exit every submenu of the menu-tree. holding the jog-dial while being inside any menu-item will kick you back to playback – manual is a crap without any practical value. that’s it – i’m not thinking about bringing it back to my dealer so far – mp3 works great, but a firmware fix is what a fair company would offer.

First time I bought it, it seems to be excellent player for me…. Just only three weeks since I bought it, the batter life was become shorter…. (I don’t know what the problem was). I really not satisfied with the battery life since that and now the battery life is only about 1/2 to 1 1/2 hours. Maybe somebody can help me to overcome the problem…..:-(.

I’ve been using a MegaStick 1 (128mb) for more than a year & half now. Never thought it would last this long ;-). The battery life is somewhat short if the backlight is used, however without the backlight a rechargeable 850mAh battery will last 7 hrs with regular use and about 5 hrs continues use; with an alkaline close to 10 hrs. The sound quality is quite good when used with a good pair of ear/head phones; unfortunately the bundled pair is really bad. FM radio reception is not impressive, unless you have good reception the radio won’t switch to stereo mode. Another drawback is the lack of USB charging support. Despite those setbacks the Megastick can be considered to be a good MP3 player with modest FM tuner, I can recommend this product to anyone who is looking for a cheap but decent flash based MP3 player.
