This is the device everyone was waiting for. It has more features than it looks. It is AWESOME The price is not that expensive for me. but I don’t know why it keeps asking me for autorization whenever i plug it into some PC especially in Teaching Lab B. I tried all sort of crap here and there, but i still couldn’t figure out how? anyway, I think i’m not that awesome!

I love this little gadget a lot! The earphones that come with the 256 version are not very good, true, but I don’t really care, for I use my old earphones anyways. It has a lot of useful functions, of course I use the MP3 player most of the time. I have no problems with music quallity, and it had no compatibility problems with my computer at all.

MSI really did the trick in my oppinion.

    Two thumbs up!

If you want a very portable MP3 player, FM Radio, voice recorder and the ability to record from the FM tuner, then this is the deal. It also doubles up as a file carrier for those important little files you need to have with you. Choose your favourite ear buds and you will get a reasonable sound out of it. A cassette adapter makes it fun to use in the car too. All in all a good value shirt pocket player and the clever cap design means you won’t lose the protection for the USB connector. Includes all the accessories you’ll need. Just love it.

It’s a great MP3 player. I’ve test a few and the MSI is a very good one. It also have bad characteristics like the plastic quality. The sound of bass isn’t very good with the earphones incluyed but if you buy another it sounds better. The FM radio is great and it sounds very clear. If you are thinking to get a MP3 player, buy MSI.

Well, this mp3 player is really a steal considering its low price and multiple functions. The audio quality is ok although I would prefer more bass. On the down side, the plastic body of of the megastick feels fragile and the EQ presets are not good either. Choosing the “rock” preset makes the songs sound too bright, “jazz” lacks treble. Nevermind the rest of the presets as they lack both bass and treble. Overall, a good buy but make sure you spend some money on decent ear- or headphones.

I would have given a 10 if it not were for the following:

    1) As far as i understand the unit does not support playlists. This makes it very difficult to jump to a desired track if you have loaded a number of albums. Something as simple as a way of browsing through the different folders containing music files would solve this point. I ended up loading one album at a time!

    2) Its user interface is not fully mature. Things don’t always happen as they should, although I have loaded the latest firmware, which improved things a lot.

Nevertheless I find the idea of the product, its sound quality and the rest of its features great. I believe that if MSI comes out with a new firmware that solves these two points, I would be delighted.

I agree with a previous poster that the worst part is the volume on the Stick. It goes up in increments which often leave you with choice of too loud or too low. Other than that it works well, is compact, and has a great cap connector that you can’t see in the photos to stop you from losing it.

the megastick is a very compact mp3/usb player that has great mp3 quality playback. the lcd display is quality and come with nice accessories. the downside is that it doesnt show track length and doesnt contain playlists. the use if battery is required to use the usb drive which i found weird

I thought this mp3 player was really good, apparently the earphones are bad but I really don’t know what the differneces are but actually they have broken! It’s great, I can use it whenever but I have to find my self deleting thigs to make space for new songs/files etc. I would love it if MSI made one with slightly more space, but it is really good value.

You can definitly say that it is a little monster. It performs all five job discription, with perfection and Standard.

So besides all the benefits, I would like to specifically point our that, with all perfection, the reason for me to reduce on point was because of the Black Semi Rotating Jog, it makes changing of the tracks, and menu access a little difficult. Why?

    Firstly its too small.

Secondly, while chaning tracks, it gets pressed, and enters the menu.

Had this thing for a year now. The sound is good without being great. I think that the worst thing is surely the preset EQ. Rock has no bass, Jazz has no treble , the others are useless. The headphones aren’t as bad as most reviewers say. Lack of playlists is a HUGE omission these days. Loading 4 albums will take you forever to find what you need. As a drive it is brilliant. Wish it was usb2.0, but can’t complain. Plugging in a pair of Sennheiser earphones will really improve this product. Battery life is impressive on mine..FAR more than 14 hours… I also use this system in a car, coupled to my 80Watts Equalizer Amplifier and it is awesome! friends often comment on what a system it makes. Just a little niggly details prevent this from getting a 10.

This memory stick/MP3 player, although a little outmoded now, is by no means ‘the bad egg’ DesignTec saw fit to label it. This gets MORE points from me because of the quality of the headphones. OK they may not be the loudest or clearest headphones available today, but the fact that the hook is hinged makes them the MOST comfortable headphones i’ve ever had. I can’t stand the little buds that go inside your ear, after a couple of hours in there they really hurt. not so with the pads. I broke mine yesterday and in a panic bought some Philips Pads and boy they suck. No hinge means they dig in around the crest of the ear and although they provide better quality sound, nothing is more important than comfort for me. As for the player itself, I have no complaints save that it can occasinally be troublesome inserting the usb due to the depth of the body. without an extension docking port for the usb (supplied) it would be useless in some PC’s.
Overall a quality, versatile piece of hardware that will last for ages

I bought this unit back in November 2003… i find this gadget still rock and excellent. Nevermind the capacity (256MB), back in 2003 this is the common/highest capacity available in the market (USB MP3 player is quite new then). USB1.1? Come on… in 2003 USB2.0 does not yet exist. The headphone? Well i do keep the original set since i prefer using the earphone.

What i like most about this unit is that it is able to jump to the next folder and continue to play (once previous folder the last song ends). Good for those who want to fall asleep after tiring listening to the songs.

If you just want to listen to songs while jogging, then it is a good stuff for you. But if you are looking for bigger capacity and HQ sound, don’t buy this unit (coz this is 8 years stuff… very outdated… but still rock);)
