LG launches largest plasma at 71″

LG today launched the world's largest plasma television at a whopping 71" inches showing that the war over who owns the largest plasma is far from over.

LG Electronics, headed by CEO and Chairman John Koo, is now paving the way to achieve a leading position in the global Digital TV market with the world’s most advanced technologies.

At the “Digital TV New Technology and Products Presentation” held on July 6, at the Gumi manufacturing plant in Korea, LGE introduced over 20 new diverse Digital TV products, including projection TV, LCD TV, CRT TV, and PDP as the flagship product that employs XDRpro, which features the most advanced level of picture quality enhancement in the world.

Senior executive officers of LGE, including Nam K. Woo, the president of LGE DDM (Digital Display and edia) Company, and representatives from distributors nationwide attended this presentation on new products, technologies, and business roadmaps. About 200 people were in attendance during the presentation.

Woo, the president of LGE DDM said, “This new technology and products presentation will reassure us of advancements in LG Electronics Digital TV, and will serve a critical role in building a digital world. LG Electronics will always be in the lead position to further enrich and enliven every customer’s life. LGE’s PDP boasts of the highest level of brightness and contrast (1,000 candela, 1,200:1 contrast ratio) in the industry with its new advanced module. It employs the XDRpro technology, LGE’s proprietary digital picture quality-enhancing engine, considered a revolutionary innovation in picture quality enhancement. In addition to these, after developing the world’s first 60-inch PDP in 1998, LGE now introduces the world’s largest-ever TV, the 71-inch Giant PDP, and proudly displays its technological prowess in the PDP industry.

To meet the recent surge in customer demand for high-definition broadcasts, the Digital TV reception feature is widely used in most LG products. The LCD Projection TV with a built-in PVR for high-definition broadcast recording was released for the first time in the world.

Also at this presentation, a heap of home theater systems and digital broadcast-ready TVs were released.
