I'm content to be a geek I guess, because I read those specs for a “killer system”, and thought to myself – this is it? Aside from the relatively costly CPU, and the LCD array, this is a cheap machine you've laid out.

You don't mention your experience with Asus Mobo and AMD Cool 'n' Quiet. I built to Asus A8NE mobo systems at the same time..one XP Pro and one XP Pro x64 editon and I had trouble with both systems telling me fans were not working on the CPU (they were) and only one system could I get the Cool n Quiet to work…then it also quit too =(

If i dont have dual monitor, i feel handicapped. I have my IDE/email on left screen, browsers etc on the right. You dont have to minimize/restore any windows this way.

For my office machine, my dream system would have 1-2GB of memory since I use Photoshop a lot. I like the idea of multiple video cards and monitors too, so I would most likely add those instead of using the large 23″ LCD I currently have.

Something that was not really mentioned was the case design/looks and the noise level of the system. Since I am on the phone a lot, I would prefer a quiet system so it does not sound like a wind tunnel in the background. I also would want a stylish looking case since it would be out in the open. For that I might go with an Antec Overture series chassis. I like the piano finish on these.
