I do not have a good relationship with my dad. But I was not at all offended by this. I wished many men at Church on Sunday a Happy Father's Day which I was happy to say to new fathers, soon to be dads and dads with years of experience. People who have a problem with Google being creative for different Holidays, Famous Birthdays or Iconic days in history just need to calm down and breathe.

People love to be offended. Not in the same way that they love free money, or a puppy. But they love to feel their blood boil, to feel righteous indignation. And apparently Alexia Tsotsis, the savvy Internet writer that she is, knows to jump on that bandwagon and ride it into a frothy hoard of outraged unique visitors.

Nice work, Jeffrey. It's good to have voices like yours splashing cold water on the absurdly red-hot faces.

I would be very surprised if the entire Google team working on this all had fathers to call, yet they did it anyway. It was appropriate and tasteful for the vast majority of the public. People in this country are way over-sensitive, often about the strangest things.

I've been turned down for jobs because my hair is long. THAT is offensive (sexist). I've had people tell me "Merry Christmas". Oops...I'm agnostic. Did I get offended? No, I felt good. Did I "educate" them? No, I returned the sentiment. Why? It's the intent. Those that refused me employment were discriminating against me based on something rather benign. Those wishing me a specific holiday greeting were being nice, even though they didn't know me. Which one gets most people riled up? The latter, of course.

Try thinking about all the fathers out there who don't get to see their kids, for whatever reason? Should they be offended, too? Sterilizing our society is NOT the answer to our country's problems. Have we learned nothing from history?

Wow, this really happened? I would like to say I'm not surprised, but I am. I understand the masses are overly sensitive, but tech writers complaining like it was blasphemous that Google suggested to call your dad is ridiculous.

So we are to cater to the lonely miserable people who spend all day looking for things to complain about. A lot of us did not have fathers that played an important roll growing up. Grow up and stop crying. Google has every right to advertise as they please without braking laws of course. There are commercials on TV that make me cry, should they be removed?…NO! If I don’t like it, I don’t look.

Well said. I think people are being completely ridiculous in situations like this. Pretty soon we will become a country with no identity. We will be holiday-less, religious-less and without an identity.

If you are offended by Google's Fathers Day promotion, switch to Bing. Google is a company that provides services and products you USE, they don't represent you, so stop acting like they are.
