YEp,
But the main money starts at the TOP.
The big companies want security, and if they cant get it, to will drown the thing.
This country(the US) is so ridden with companies that want EVERY dollar, that THEY think they should have, they blow things totally out of proportion, and dont realize its probably THERE FAULT that no one is buying there expencive STUFF.

2 things I would ADD..
If you are in the market, LEARN a few things, FIRST. just because it looks nice, and matches your wallpaper DONT mean it will work or that the NEWEST releases will sound good.
ASK, search the net, talk to thos WHO KNOW whats OUT and WHATS COMING.

And DONT buy the newest toy on the market. WAIT. let them FIX the bugs(IM NOT A BETA TESTER, and I wasnt PAID to be) and SEE if it will meet your needs AFTER its been used by everyone ELSE.

Yup, the biggest voice is the mighty $. If people dont buy because there isn't a standard, they'll have to go back to the drawing board. People wont buy right away until one becomes the winner somehow.

This whole HD DVD vs. Blue-Ray still makes me mad. Both formats have incredible promise yet because companies will not agree on a standard, they will suffer in the marketplace. Who wants to spend money on a new HD DVD player only to find out their favorite title is coming to Blu-Ray instead? Certainly not me.

So either we wait for dual format players or we wait for the next generation format and make our decision there. What Sony and Toshiba do not seem to be able to grasp is that for all of the arguing they are doing, they are ignoring the biggest voice of all - the consumers.
