Need for Speed: Shift dev revs up for massively multiplayer action-racing in World of Speed

Need for Speed: Shift developer Slightly Mad Studios is doing something a little different with its next racing game, the freshly announced World of Speed. The twist with this arcade-style racer is that it’s not headed to consoles; World of Speed is described as a “massively multiplayer online action-racing game.” The tracks are all built around real-world cities, though players will also be able to socialize in an Airfield hub and form up into individual Clubs (which appear to be analogous with the guilds of MMORPGs).

The game’s debut trailer up top gives you a sense of what World of Speed looks like. There’s no word on when the game will be available, but we do know that it’s coming to PC sometime in 2014. You can find more details on the official website.
