Watch Dogs videos highlight the dangers of living in an interconnected world

Check out our full written Watch Dogs review.

Ubisoft is all set to drop Watch Dogs on May 27, and we’ve got a pair of video to help get you in the mood. Up top you’ll see the game’s official launch trailer. Still haven’t caught a glimpse of the open world mayhem created by Aiden Pearce? This trailer gives you a sense of what to expect.

Here’s the short version: hacking and gunplay.

Below, you’ll find the first episode of a three-part series called Phreaked Out. The near-future world rendered in Watch Dogs is one in which advancing technology has resulted in the creation of software powerful enough to centrally control the infrastructure of an entire city. Phreaked Out explores the dangers that go hand-in-hand with such efforts in the real world, looking at actual events.

The first episode heads to Los Angeles in August 2006, when a pair of local traffic engineers remotely accessed the city’s traffic control system. The action was part of a labor union protest, and it created a traffic nightmare in the city that lasted multiple days.
