Does anyone know how to connect the system to a home theater, without the use of a computer? The three mini-jack connections are not helpful in connecting to a DVD player/TV/etc.

I've had them for a few years now. I bought the z-5300 new on sale for $98. I've never actually ran these thru a computer with 5.1 soundcard and frankly I really couldn't care less. I use them in the living room to watch TV, DVD plus VHS movies and listen to the occasional cd. I couldn't be happier with the theater-like sonic experience. I found that turning the sub setting on the remote down to 10 o'clock creates a very clean distortion free bass sound without sacrificing any low end hammer. Not hard to fathom why their THX certified. 4.5 out of 5 stars.

I got these several years ago and FINALLY I'm breaking down and writing a review on them. I must say for the price ($150) they are a lot better than I ever expected. Living in a rural town in Minnesota, I often open the windows so we can hear music for our parties. These bad boys do MORE than enough to satisfy the average consumer. From watching a movie or playing PS3 or a Saturday afternoon of the iTunes jammin.. These are MORE than adequate. My wife OFTEN tells me to turn down the bass. When they made these.. they made them right! I haven't heard the Z-5500 series yet. I can only imagine them being a tad bit better. And I never hear distortion UNLESS it's in the music itself. Overall.. easy set up. Easy mounting equals easy listening.. Logitech hit a homerun with these. I can't speak for others obviously. I'm 100% satisfied with these. I got my money's worth and a nice bonus!

I think this is the best so far but Logitech has discontinued it. So, ya, but it's a great set. The sound is incredible. Yes, it can be hooked up to any of those units through headphone jack. Does anyone know where to get replacement satellites for it? Email me im18andhopeless@hotmail.com

Does anyone know if you can hook these up to a laptop or Digital Drum set? I have a Roland TD-6 drum set and it seems as if the power would be plenty. Thanks! On my desktop they are by far the best speakers I have ever had!

I have had my 5300 for 4 years now (or something like that) and I loved the sound from the start. I think the adjustments are handy - I like being able to adjust the sub separately (which I can't do on my $600 set).

Only problem I've run into is within the electronics. First, it would make a "pop" every time I adjusted the volume (every click on the dial would pop through the speakers). Now, it's worsened to the point where I have very little volume at all through the system. Pretty frustrating, but they served me well for a few years.

Having a difficult time finding support/replacement parts for this.

BEST SPEAKERS. Bought it about 6-7 months ago and it delivered the sound, the feel, and the bass! I don't know what else to say. I usually like to test the speakers by going all out. Left speaker went out one day and I called up Logitech customer service. Man were they awesome! They told me that they'll be sending me brand new z5300 speakers at no cost and don't have to return the old ones. Couple of days later, old speakers started to work fine and did a mean test again. Worked great. So.... old speakers still have. New speakers on its way! For free ^_^ that's all.

I use this system along with my computer for a lot of music listening use, and this setup is amazing. Everything is crisp and clean from high end to low end without much too any distortion, and when I want it to be, it can get LOUD very quickly. Bought it at Circuit City summer 07 for 150, which is 50 off the list price, and haven't looked back since. More power (280 watt, 560 RMS total) and better sound than other comparable and cheaper 5.1 and 7.1 systems. I can honestly say this system reproduces sound as well as, if not better than, most home theater systems one can put together piece by piece (not to mention it's far cheaper than spending the money required to assemble a complete home theater system from scratch). I use the Z5300 in tandem with the Creative Audigy 2 notebook external sound card to really boost the sonic experience and I couldn't be happier. If you can find these now, I would absolutely recommend them. After all, how many other people do you know that own a computer speaker system (or any audio system, for that matter) which is THX certified? If you're like me, you're the only one, and that is something you can be proud of, as the THX tag isn't something to be lightly regarded when it comes to sound reproduction. Bottom line: Buy these speakers. You won't be disappointed.

This speaker set is fantastic value , If your like myself and use your PC as a jukebox , then you will be McLoven this system!

I have to disagree with over-powering bass , Control remote lets you adjust levels accordingly. As well as a bridged output "matrix" mode , for a basic MP3 stereo input with all 5 speakers.

I knew if it had THX , then it would sound good , But for the price compared to a Bose for example , You cannot go wrong with this one.

The amount of bass is way too much. Obnoxious thumping drowns out the mid and high range. These speakers might be good for gaming, but very annoying for music.

I picked this setup up a few days ago at a great low price I could not turn down.

First thing I found was that I needed to add some RCA cord to connect the back speakers as they were a little too short.

The wall mount and turn bases on the speakers are great but I'm not using it that way right now as the desk works just fine on my setup.

Setup was as easy as routing the wires to the bass speaker, connecting the RCA contacts by matching the color, and connecting the control which is a similar setup to a monitor cable.

The sub woofer puts out a lot of bass and is something I chose to turn down for my type music but it also holds the amp and has a massive cooling fin setup on the back which I really like as I can run the system for days without any problems of overheating

Overall sound with a 5.1 setup like mine sounds great to my ear and I do a lot of audio recording so now I can record in 5.1 for some more effect.

I give this a 9 out of 10 only because the rear speaker cords are not long enough IMO.

I had this sound system about 2 or 3 years ago, and it worked amazing for me! I had it with a Creative Audigy 2 and 5.1 worked excelent! the matrix mode was kinda confusing at first because I didnt know what it was for but it soon made me clear I didnt need it :) I got a Z-5450 now and I have to say.. Wouldnt go back to the Z-5300. As I recall the Z-5300 could not go digital.. Thats one of the minor things about the system.. But for about 130 dollars.. You got a perfect sound system :)

Its not a true 5.1... Not matter how I tweak with it and set things up, the different channels cross over each other. I am a big fan of Logitech products but I wouldn't repurchase these however. Its great if you don't have a 5.1 source and want "fake" it.

After reading reviews in this and other websites, I finally made up my mind to buy this speaker system to replace my old one, the one that I assembled my self. I bought it for $185.

After listening to it, I fill very disappointed. The sound quality is somewhere in the medium range. It is loud however, but I'm not looking for loud system.

The mids were lacking some frequencies, while over in other frequency. In other word it's not natural enough for my ears.

The highs have too much hisss.

My old system can produce exellent highs, but poor on mids and low.

The bass is way too much. I realy don't like bassy music.

The system is only good for watching movies and playing games, not for music listening.

Someone mentioned that this system sounds like Bose. If Bose sounds like this, I will never buy Bose.

My $25 phillips earphone sounds alot better, and $25 for this earphone fills inexpensive. $185 for this 5.1 system fills very expensive.

I've had these speakers for nearly 4 years.

All I can say is, Wow.

I refuse to listen to anybody else's sound systems any longer - These things blow everything I've ever encountered out of the water.

I've only just now discovered the uses of the "Matrix" mode, and I'm very impressed.

A++ to Logitech, and I even paid full price when these were new!

I got my set off ebay for $100 and they are worth every penny. I have seen other speaker sets that are worth $300/$400 and my speakers are just as good if not better. If you get the chance to buy them DO IT!!!

I'm just writing to say that you can actually enlarge the speaker cables by adapting a normal audio cable to them. You just have to buy a coded cable (red & white), separate them, plug it into the cable of the speaker with an adapter you can get in any audio store, and the other side to the subwoofer.

Have had them for around two months now, and they are great. Preformed wayy better than expected, and creates an acurate sound field in 5.. Playing HalfLife2, i can hear exactly where my oponents are, and the sound is crystal clear.

Base is great, i don't see the problem with base adjustment.... I havn't had to adjust it outside the controllers range ever, and generally the middle point sounds good for most things. If you DO want to tweak it more, theres plenty of programs out there that can tweak it for you for free.

This is an excellent speaker system, and i HIGHLY reconmend. Realistically, for PC, and Home Theatre applications, you don't need more wattage than this can do, unless you're looking to deafen yourself. Generally i have it on setting 2-3/7, 4 when watching movies.

as the previous reviews have stated, this system is amazing. the bass is unmatched in this price range, and in my opion, even up to 350$ range. although the option to turn down the bass is almost non-existant, i dont see this as a problem. nothing rocks better for the price, and i am very impressed.

These are your typical overenergetic teen's dream. It took turning the sub volume ALL the way down, equalizing another 6-8 db out of the 80 Hz area, and a sock stuffed in the port to tame that sub! I'm working on about 20 hours of run-in now and they are getting better all the time. Lots of oomph. You'll be deaf before they distort. And once the bass monster is tamed they become a very balanced system.

These babies totally sound amazing, before these I had a set of Creative P580s. They seem positively obsolete now.The sound is rich and crystal clear, the bass is whatever you want it to be, (for those of you that think its too bassy or not bassy enough - fiddling around with your soundcard equalizer has done it for me...) I run these through a creative Audigy 2 soundcard - basically its THX meets THX.DVDs games, music all sound amazing. Im waiting for my neighbours to go out for a day so can fully exploit the ridiculous power!! EXCELLENT!!
