BMW has been busy creating the ultimate electric driving machine and quite surrounding the buzz with both the i3 city car and i8 coupe. Now, the German automaker is looking to add to that lineup with the ever so stylish BMW i8 Spyder.
We won’t bother you with a rehash of all the details; we’ll let the pictures do most of the talking, but if you want a more in-depth rundown of what you can expect from the i8 look here. Otherwise, know that the i8 Spyder, like the i3 and i8 coupe, will feature a similar gasoline-electric plug-in hybrid drivetrain found in other extended-range plug-in hybrids like the Chevrolet Volt and Fisker Karma. And apart from the chopped top, shorter wheelbase, and slightly altered upward-swiveling doors, remains near identical to the i8 coupe scheduled for production.
