Brabus’ hot-rodded Mercedes-Maybach S600 can out-sprint a Porsche 911

Well-known Mercedes-Benz tuner, Brabus, has introduced a more powerful version of the ultra-luxurious Mercedes-Maybach S600 that was presented late last year at the Los Angeles Motor Show.

The most notable changes are found under the hood, where the Maybach’s 6.0-liter V12 engine has been bored and stroked to 6.3-liters and fitted with a pair of beefier turbochargers. As a result, the 12-cylinder makes 887 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and a whopping 1,106 foot-pounds of torque at 4,200 rpm. To put those figures into perspective, the stock Maybach is rated at 523 ponies and 612 foot-pounds of twist.

The extra grunt sends the 214-inch long, 5,300-pound leviathan from zero to 62 mph in 3.7 seconds – faster than a Porsche 911 Carrera 4 GTS – and on to a top speed of over 217 mph. Clearly, the limousine was designed with the Autobahn in mind.

The Brabus treatment extends beyond the engine bay thanks to a full body kit that includes a deep front bumper with three large air dams and a discreet splitter, plus a pair of quad exhaust pipes. 21-inch forged wheels and a sprinkling of Brabus on both ends wrap up the look, but buyers who wish to keep a low profile can order the upgraded engine without the exterior modifications.

The limousine’s interior is fully configurable. Buyers can upgrade the cockpit by choosing from a long list of leather and Alcantara upholstery options available in nearly every color as well as real wood, aluminum or carbon fiber trim on the dashboard and on the door panels. Finally, businessmen who are planning on using their sedan as a mobile office can specify a custom-designed infotainment system built with components sourced from the Apple parts bin.

Brabus’ boosted Mercedes-Maybach S600 is on sale now across Europe but pricing information has not been disclosed. For what it’s worth, a bone-stock Maybach with any options starts at nearly $200,000.
