Ford Evos concept car

Imagine streaming music in your house and when you get up to leave that same music starts up in your car. That is exactly what the Ford Evos concept car is aiming to do. But of course, streaming music from your home to your car isn’t the only futuristic feature this plug-in hybrid has to offer. In addition to media streaming, the Evos will be able to communicate with the cloud and other mobile devices like your cell phone, heat or cool the interior prior to entering the vehicle. The concept cars will also automatically close the garage door as you pull out of your drive way. Forget to turn off the lights? The Evos could do that too.

The exterior of the car features a sexy coupe style with gull-wing doors and is powered by a 2.0 liter Atkinson cycle gasoline engine in conjunction with an electric motor and lithium-ion battery pack. Ford has scheduled to unveil the Evos to the public at Frankfurt Motor Show this month and while the Evos is not intended for production, Ford has announced that the design strategy showcased in the Evos will appear on production cars in a few months.

hyundai to launch 13 hybrid plug in electric cars through 2022 ioniq

With hybrid, plug-in hybrid, battery-electric, and hydrogen fuel cell cars already in its lineup, Hyundai has the eco-friendly bases covered. Now the Korean automaker is planning to expand its lineup of green cars. Hyundai is aiming to have 13 new or updated models with hybrid, plug-in hybrid, or electric powertrains in its lineup by 2022. That includes six conventional cars and seven SUVs.

Not all of these models will be completely new, however. The total includes the updated 2020 Hyundai Ioniq, which will debut at the 2019 Los Angeles Auto Show. The 2020 Ioniq is expected to be a refresh of the current model, rather than a redesign. Hyundai will continue to offer the Ioniq with hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and battery-electric powertrains -- accounting for three of the 13 slots. Details on the 2020 Ioniq are scarce, but the all-electric version will get a boost to 170 miles of range, according to Green Car Reports.

Ford’s upcoming electric cars will share VW’s Electrify America charging network
ford electric car charging plans home station

Ford is launching a fleet of new electric cars, including a "Mustang-inspired" crossover with 300 miles of range. Those cars will need charging stations, so like other automakers before it, Ford will have to invest in infrastructure as well as in the vehicles themselves. The Blue Oval will use Volkswagen's Electrify America network for public charging and provide assistance to customers setting up home charging.

Electrify America was created to spend $2 billion of Volkswagen diesel emissions penalties on zero-emission vehicle infrastructure. The entity was always intended to be brand agnostic, but Ford is the first major automaker to commit to using it. Lucid Motors has also said it will use Electrify America, but it's a small startup that hasn't delivered any cars to customers yet.
