Canon debuts laser class 510

The new Canon LASER CLASS 510 offers a small footprint in a user-friendly device. It will be available later this month through Canon authorized dealers and Canon Business Solutions locations. Thesuggested retail price is $1,695.

“Despite the growth of e-mail, fax still remains a reliable technology that continues to support the daily correspondence of organizations,” said Chris Sedlacek, assistant director, Canon U.S.A. Integrated Business Systems “A powerful imaging device such as the LASER CLASS 510 can serve the primary needs of organizations and also compliment operations when an electronic document can’t be opened or e-mail systems go off line. Products like the LASER CLASS 510 also remain the key transaction method for mortgages, legal documents and medical referrals.”

The LASER CLASS 510 has an 8.5″ scan width and faxes from its glass platen or through a 50-sheet Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) through a 33.6 Kbps modem allowing for up to 3-second transmission speeds. Support for MR, MMR, JBIG compression is available, and up to 512 pages of document memory through 8 MB comes standard, based on 4% originals, 5% coverage. A standard PC fax driver allows faxes to be sent directly from a PC, which can store up to 3,000 addresses.

As a desktop copier and printer, the LASER CLASS 510 offer up to 1200 x 600 dpi resolution and up to 15 page-per-minute operation*. Printing is performed via USB 1.1 connection, and support for Windows 95/98/ME/NT4/2000/XP is available. The LASER CLASS 510 engine supports a monthly duty cycle of up to 8,000 impressions per month through a standard 250-sheet letter/legal cassette tray and 10-sheet bypass tray.

Additional fax features of the Canon LASER CLASS 510 include

– Dual line access and 130 speed dial locations with one-hour memory backup.

– Confirmation report with image.

Additional copy/print features of the Canon LASER CLASS 510 include:

-50-200 percent zoom ratio at one percent increments.

-Preset reduction at 50, 65 and 78 percent and enlargement at 129 and 200 percent.

-Exposure control: auto and manual.

-Original type selection: text and photo.

-Maximum run of 99 copies, electronic collating, Scan Once Print Many and copy reservation

In the final days of his six-month stint aboard the International Space Station (ISS), Danish astronaut Andreas Mogensen took some time out of his science work to snap some striking photos of a snow-covered Grand Canyon.
