LCD Monitor Panel Prices To Drop 22-24%

Prices of LCD monitor panels are expected to drop 22-24% in the second half of this year, according to Taiwan’s Topology Research.

The research firm expects prices of 17-inch LCD monitor panels to decrease the most, as many fifth-generation (5G) TFT LCD plants in Taiwan are currently focusing on this segment.

Taiwan-based TFT LCD makers agree that price reductions for LCD monitor panels are inevitable.

Chi Mei Optoelectronics (CMO) said that its LCD monitor panel prices should decline 5-10% this year. HannStar Display commented that price-cuts are a good way to reduce inventory.

CMO, Chunghwa Picture Tubes (CPT) and HannStar have all raised their prices of LCD monitor panels starting in February.
