Nikon Develops Wireless Interface

“Nikon Corp. has announced the implementation of PTP/IP (Picture Transfer Protocol over Internet Protocol) as a new computer interface for more convenient image data transfer from digital cameras, according to a Japan Corporate News Network report.

By implementing PTP/IP in coming products, Nikon expects promote applications in wireless digital camera connectivity. Nikon is collaborating with FotoNation and Microsoft Corp. on commercializing and enhancing this technology, whose further refinements for professional use will be released soon, the report said.”

While this is exciting news, it is sad to see Bluetooth get skipped over in favor of PTP/IP.
