The D70 firmware update to be released shortly aims to share enhancements developed for the new D70s.

The firmware update includes the following additions and refinements:

     * Improved performance for the 5-area autofocus system’s Dynamic Area AF and Closest Subject Priority Dynamic Area AF modes.

     * Updated menus with a new design similar to that of the D70s, making them easier to view and quicker to recognize.

     * Added in-camera page setup support for PictBridge compatible printers.

Release schedule: Nikon Corporation will release the D70 firmware updater worldwide in mid-May 2005.

  2. Terry at 8:59pm 27th April 2005 Warning does the new D70 firmware update also encrypt the RAW data as in the Nikon D2X, the Nikon D2HS and I beleive the D70s/D50 thus requiring purchase of Nikon's Capture 4 software to properly view Raw (NEF)images?
  3. James at 10:43am 27th April 2005 Thats pretty cool that Nikon is not forcing their customers to go out and buy the new D70 just to get the updated features.
