Nikon Updates D70 Digital SLR Firmware

The D70 firmware update to be released shortly aims to share enhancements developed for the new D70s.

The firmware update includes the following additions and refinements:

* Improved performance for the 5-area autofocus system’s Dynamic Area AF and Closest Subject Priority Dynamic Area AF modes.

* Updated menus with a new design similar to that of the D70s, making them easier to view and quicker to recognize.

* Added in-camera page setup support for PictBridge compatible printers.

Release schedule: Nikon Corporation will release the D70 firmware updater worldwide in mid-May 2005.

Terry at 8:59pm 27th April 2005 Warning does the new D70 firmware update also encrypt the RAW data as in the Nikon D2X, the Nikon D2HS and I beleive the D70s/D50 thus requiring purchase of Nikon's Capture 4 software to properly view Raw (NEF)images?
James at 10:43am 27th April 2005 Thats pretty cool that Nikon is not forcing their customers to go out and buy the new D70 just to get the updated features.
