SanDisk Pushes Memory Sticks to 30 MB/s

SanDisk's new Extreme III Memory Stick PRO-HG Duo will make photographers happy, with read and write speeds of 30 MB per second.
Memory and storage developer SanDisk has unveiled a new storage product that’s sure to make high-resolution, Sony-owning photographers smile. The new Extreme III Memory Stoick PRO-HG Duo can read and write data at speeds of 30 MB per second. The speed boost is sure to be a hit with pro, semi-pro, and pro-sumer photographers with Sony DSLR cameras and camcorders, since the reduced transfer time reduces shot-to-shot turnaround.”
“The SanDisk Extreme III Memory Stick PRO-HG Duo continues our tradition of delivering best-in-class performance in the SanDisk Extreme product line,” said SanDisk’s director of consumer product marketing Susan Park, in a statement. “Our customers know SanDisk Extreme cards not only deliver cutting-edge read and write speeds, but are designed for durability—even under harsh conditions.”
SanDisk says the cards can be used in temperatures ranging from -13 to 185° Fahrenheit (-25 to 85° Centigrade); the cards also come with RescuePRO software for recovering deleted images.
The Extreme III Memory Stick PRO-HG Duo cards will be available worldwide in June, with a 4 GB version carrying a suggested retail price of $89.99, and an 8 GB version going for $149.99.
